XP is needed in real life . It is very fast and stable if we compare with newer version of windows . It is one of the most secure version of windows as newer security risks depends on features of vista and up.
Yup. Windows XP still the best IMO. Nice to see others keeping it alive.

Thanks I just installed 20131008 in VMWare with no problems, and then synchronized new system files (and catroot) with my host XP install. Windows XP is still the best!

Yes, DirectX 10+ is another factor that has pushed PC gamers away from XP.

But it's almost a pointless cause (besides some better graphics, and more profits for MS) because most games actually run slower on Vista anyway..

Hi all, I have a problem with my Notepad++ (standard install, not using this addon). The context menu doesn't appear when I right-click on files. It seems to be related to RyanVM's update pack. If I reinstall Windows from my SP2 CD and then install NPP, the context menu works fine. But with RVM upda...

Something else must've replaced it with an older version then..

That sucks.. I thought Windows was supposed to protect against this sort of thing?

I will try extract the newer file from RyanVM pack and run sigverif again.

Thanks

portcls.sys is unsigned

Hi Ryan, guys and gals, I read here that portcls.sys has been replaced in one of your update packs. Hotfix KB921401 in update pack 2.1.1 I believe.. That file is unsigned according to sigverif.exe Modified 3/16/2004 Version 5.1.2600.1364 I am wondering if this file is corrupted on my machine or is i...

Using this to build a UBCD (BartPE) as we speak. The updates should make it much more secure for surfing the web and such.

You stated all you basically did was remove entries and delete files, but if thats the case how come LgtCkCtl.dl_ checksum is different than that of the one in RyanVMs update pack?
