I've always liked 4NT (not freeware) as a cmd.exe replacement. If you like the linux Bash shell you may want to try this.

For a cmd.exe enhancement I quite like Console, although have had problems with it and XPize.

What do peeps here use for email.... I use Thunderbird. How about putting the type of prog next to its name, would definately make it easier to understand what apps do what, since alot of peeps may not be familiar with the names. There doesnt seem to be anyway to manually update NOD32, all the documentation for NOD32 refers to using the automatic Internet updater or using a local mirror. One possible way to avoid this situation would be to create a setup.xml file which excludes the Spyware Doctor update.exe file from NOD32 o...

Which update pack / Win2K3 R2

Can anyone confirm if the Win2K3 SP1 Update Packs work ok on Win2K3 R2 and if there is any reason I should use a particular Win2K3 update pack, looks like codejunkie, dimadr and boooggy all have released update packs. Is there any differences? Am I missing something? I just want all the MS hotfixes ...

hehe, guess I should have explained my thinking rather than suggesting stuff ... I thought his install was corrupt - possibly hardware failure - which would account for the reason why the install cd wouldnt give him the repair option - it couldnt find an existing installation. In practice its probab...

How to install and use the WinXP Recovery Console http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... -us;307654

If your system wont boot I dont think you can use SFC. Time to dig out your trusty WinPE or SupaDoopa Recovery CD :)

Could always try an inplace upgrade or reinstall.

Well I guess my take would be any sort of IDE RAID array is kind of pointless in terms of performance... the whole idea of RAID is redundancy. If you want fast access, seek and read/write times, get SATA 10K RPM drives. That said you can stroke a bit more performance out of your drives in a striped ...

Yup, I know I would love a couple of Raptor's in my main box, but the bank manager (my partner) would seriously sell all my gear on Trademe if I splurge too much. I've done the student thing.... so I know exactly what its like until you get back on your feet - student loans are a killer. I make do w...

Umm, not 100% sure but I would think that the RAID0 would be faster overall but keep the following in mind. RAID0 (Striping) would give roughly the same performance as a single disk - possibly seeing burst transfers roughly twice the top speed of a single disk. Most people would use RAID0 for a scra...

Hi Mrs Peel, nice to see another Kiwi :) Thing to remember with IDE RAID cards is most of the cheaper ones (i.e. under NZ$800) are still doing software RAID - your CPU does all the RAID calculations. IDE RAID is a little bit of a have as you'll never see great leaps in performance using it - its mor...

RyanVM Update Pack for Windows 2003

Does anyone know if there are similar update packs for Win2K3?

Whats the possibility of creating a Windows Update Pack, that contains hotfixes and updates for all Windows OS's and can identify the OS you applying to and integrate only the specific updates for that OS?
