If you can't use XP, then Win 7 all the way with Simplix pack integrated into the ISO you will use to install with. Just be aware that with anything 8th gen and above, the integrated graphics will not work (until someone finds a workaround perhaps). With Ryzen, only the models without integrated GPU...

I had this problem in Virtualbox...
I let it run for a few days and it showed up... If you have to shut your computer down, put the VM to sleep, and when you wale it back up it will keep looking for updates.

Abodi makes a real good dotnet installer, it installs all of them. Latest version has all updates thru nov2017. So I do recommend to peeps to use that, instead of the hours it takes to download and install the dotnet fixes thru MSupdate. Wonder if Harkaz would consider updating these other hot fixe...
