Integrated 1.0.3 into clean SP3 XP Pro source with 1.4.9.1 nLite and ended up with wuauclt1.exe uncompressed in the root folder (outside of I386). It is also present, updated, and properly compressed in the I386 folder. Should it be in the root folder?

The autoupdate pack is definitely not working for me. First of all, the inf specifies the defs.ref file to be inside the cab package, which it is not. Secondly, although potentially just an nLite issue, integrating with nLite 1.0 Final somehow did not put the defs.ref and updater file into the I386 ...

I happened to be updating my cd and ran into this problem again. Now I have some answers to some of the questions that Ryan had. Textmode setup does not complain because it does not parse the inf file. It merely copies the inf and sys files to their appropriate places: %systemroot%\inf %systemroot%\...

Thanks for the additinal info. It seems that in your installation "hdaudbus.sys" was not copied during device installation as well. Weird that only in my installation does it actually try to copy the file.

Interesting that mine complains about the driver not being signed etc, but there is no such complaint in Ryan's log. It also complains about the lack of a signature which is true because the inf I have doesn't reference a cat file. Or maybe that has to do with having SFC disabled. #I087 Driver node ...

Yeah they are copied during textmode as the hdaudbus.sys does end up under system32. However, during device setup it seems to look for the file with the source disk as the setup cd, and not the windows system32 directory. All I know is that adding "I386" allows it to install without any problems. He...

Windows reported it as not digitally signed before I made the changes as well. This may have to do with the checksum being 0. Actually, if you like at the inf files, they don't reference a cat signature so they were never signed to begin with. Installation never worked for me. I would get an unknown...

KB888111: Problem in Update Pack - Solution found

There is a problem with the KB888111 update in the 2.0.4 update pack. It doesn't install properly with my installation cd and I have to manually go to update driver and then choose the hdaudbus.sys file. My guess is it can't find it during device driver installation phase in setup. [2006/04/07 21:40...

Nope, I went to download Windows Messenger because I removed it with nLite. Got a prompt to update WGA and so I did. I just copied the two files from my system32 directory.

Broken WGA 1.5.512

Doesn't seem like it has been posted, but I might just suck at searching.

I pretty much just replaced the files from Kel's 1.4.410

Link

Update: Here's the link for the cab from MSFT.

Update: Oops, wasn't paying attention when I made these :D

I have this same issue too, on my laptop with Intel 855. However, I don't think it happens when I use a regular WinXP SP2 install, if I recall correctly. Is KB883667 already included in SP2?

Wouldn't it be safer to not have uxtheme.dll included? Since update packs take precendence, couldn't it overwrite a newer version that existed? No, Addons overwright Update packs. And the newest version of the .dll is always included in this addon which is the patched one btw... the one in the udp ...

VLC does not support unicode and that is a big setback for many of us.

On the otherhand, I'm glad 1.3 is almost ready :)

How come the tcpip.sys included with 1.2.1 is a very old version? I replaced mine with the one from my comp after updates from the 12th (same as the one in 1.2). Don't know if this will work or not..but doesn't seem like it should be an older version.
