Re: [Addon] XPSP3 QFE POSReady Updates 20180917

Hi
@Dibya, what packages did you include in the IE8 addon in the end out of curiosity?

A seperate curiosity is if IE8 addon supersedes IE7 entriely. I noted one IE7-targeted updates coming as late as 2013, is it likely this is included in this IE8 addon?

MS really make a mess of things.

Re: Welcome to Windows XP Service Pack 4

Try to run Mini Update Tool see what that reports (gooogle it) .... seperately ..... Does anyone know if its possible to install post XP SP3 (POS2009 targeted) .net framework updates independantly? this will likely need a database of all updates available to date. Perhaps mini updater tool can list ...

Re: [Addon] XPSP3 QFE POSReady Updates 20180917

I took a pickaxe to the RyanVM repository of PostSP3 kb's (megaupload) and now have a folder of .exe of updates which I felt were the only ones I needed (by reading their descriptions listed in the QFE POST SP3 Update pack thread). IIRC few months ago I attempted to craft a 7z with DXUPack using the...

Re: Whats differs .7z from .cab addons?

Ok so, for instance regarding DXUPAC.exe addon creator, these are some observations: When one selects under "Programs you want to create: WindowsXP Post-SP3 Update Pack" Only "Update Pack" is an option under "choose addon type". 68mb of files are input - Upon completion, the output is a 13.1mb PostS...

Someone make updated IE8 addon?

Please I am unfamiliar with add on creation and I'm sure someone inclined in this can do it on 'no time' or that someone may be interested in such a pack. Scope of objective (Assume target system has automatic updates disabled/removed). At present, people should have to do the following to a clean X...

Whats differs .7z from .cab addons?

Hi
As the title implies, whats the difference as far as integrating with nlite is concerned?
In any case is nlite the best method

Also what is a True addon?

I'm familiar with unnattended installs but renetly dabbled with integrating packs.

cheers

Re: [Addon] XPSP3 QFE POSReady Updates 20180917

when oneadds hotfixes using nlite, is it normal that the iso grows considerably in size? Theres an option called Direct hotfix Integraton one would assume newer files replace older ones without adding weight to the ISO?

POS2009/XP embedded Hotfix question

Do these sucesfully integrate like traditional KB hotfixes if using nlite or any other inegrator?

also, is it more recommended to use nlite or another integrator to do that? I mean these embedded hotfixes are much newer than the latest nlite for XP.

Re: copying certain files to usb hangs PC?

I didn't realise a USB stick consumed 300mA of power. There is a feature in Device Manager that lists each device consumption, to be sure I unplugged all but mouse and USB stick, the problem still persists. I need to try an ALT power supply really. Current one installed is 250Watts, the default supp...

Re: copying certain files to usb hangs PC?

Okay so loaded up new motherboard. Its more stable, files can be copied but verrrry slowly. If copy is cancelled it doesn't crash explorer unlike before. I'm using some pretty early nforce drivers, not fernandos ones. I opened System Event Viewer and Cleared all events then copied files to USB to se...

Indeed. Latest bios on both. Initially it was Intel based nForce 630i MCP73, Foxconn Irvine then I moved to AMD based nForce 710a MCP78, Pegatron Nutmeg. I was so pissed off at the constant crashes of the nutmeg it got smashed and Reverted to intel. The only reason I like these is the plentiful feat...

Swapped motherboard for another and tried again, everything else is the same.

The files copy and eventually complete copying but it takes very long time, just not as long as it did on previous mobo.

Re: copying certain files to usb hangs PC?

It happens on all USB drives.

An alt. nlite install with BITS intact concludes its not culpable, however I suspect another, also absent service
Performance Logs and Alerts service, may be.

I shall make image with this installed and see. Expect report within a day.

Re: copying certain files to usb hangs PC?

Tried alternative 'optimized' chipset drivers on fresh install of nlited XP, same thing happens. Explorer goes unresponsive if you click cancel; the only way to get PC to respond is to unplug USB stick. There are no reports of this particular USB stick failing online, so I'm left to assume its somet...

It worked fine before I re-did an nlite of SP3 to integrate AHCI drivers. Then I booted up that copy and made it main boot.

Re: copying certain files to usb hangs PC?

5.1.2600.5512 for NTFS

zipfldr.dll shouldn't matter, the problem is copying files in a regular folder.
The files were not compressed with zip to begin with fyi, I just compressed them to test, i.e. when zipped, same files transfer faster than if they aren't. Explorer is doing something funny...

Tired KM-Goanna. Responsive. Not sure which is better between KM-Goanna & Seamonkey. KM-Goanna has slightly more flash compatibility with 'certain' video plugins though.

I tried Pale-moon and it wasn't working how I'd liked.

copying certain files to usb hangs PC?

I have a folder with files, They take forever to copy to a USB drive. Explorer eventually hangs. Copy doesn't cmplete unless you wait an hour (lol). INF+FIles in a folder, How to slipstream?

Whats the easiest way to do this with nlite? I looked over some addon maker tutorials but theyre long winded for something I'm sure can be much simpler.
Does nlite support adding .infs? (they are not drivers, but something else).
