Probably it is the combination of uniprocessor kernel + 4 GB RAM that causes this.
I am pretty sure its not exactly that, I tried installing it with the windows xp pro sp4 than post-sp4 installer after the install , with its original ram configuration of 512MB and it still happens.

Re: Welcome to Windows XP Service Pack 4

@Harkaz I might have found the culprit that is causing my issue , the kernel update KB4486465. Even though the computer is a Single core Pentium 4 , On a fresh Windows xp pro install that has sp4 slipstreamed and not post-sp4 , if I go into device manager , select computer and change acpi uniprocess...

Re: Welcome to Windows XP Service Pack 4

I am unable to reproduce your issue on real Pentium 4 hardware (80 GB HDD as well, 512 MB RAM) and in a VM with 4 GB RAM. May I suggest starting over from SP4 and use the new (alternative November 2019) 128GB RAM patch at the first post before installing the Post-SP4 update rollup. Yup Using the 12...

Re: Welcome to Windows XP Service Pack 4

@harkaz Another thing that I have found out is that updates that are included in post SP4 all install fine when installed using window updates in windows xp , So if I just windows XP pro using a cd with Sp4 integrated , than after the install use windows update, around 90 or more updates install fi...

Re: Welcome to Windows XP Service Pack 4

@Harkas I totally forgot about getting you the setup log files from the C:\windows of the failed installation of windows xp Sp4 with post-sp4 added , in the process I did erase the hard drive, and just installed using a Windows XP pro sp3 installation source slipstreamed with just the sp4 , and I ju...

We need to take a look at the setup*.log files in C:\WINDOWS.
Ok, How do you get the setup*.log files , from the failed installation?

Once the installation freezes? Do I just turn the computer off , and than get the setup*.log files from the C:\Windows directory, using another computer?

Is anyone having a similar problem with post-sp4 like I am? I am having the problem is that the windows pro installation is freezing if post-sp4 is added to a current sp4 windows xp pro iso. Windows XP pro with sp4 integrated installs perfectly on the pc, the problem is when the disc has post-sp4 ad...
