I already updated my firmware to the lastest....

It may be a chipset driver issue, but it's weird for it to start acting up now.

Well I found the problem. I'm not sure why or what I can do to fix this but Windows loses track of my Asus 16x DL DVD burner. When this happens the CPU usage spikes to 20%. To remedy this I can go to device manager and scan for hardware changes, then it finds it again. Really weird. I went to Asus's...

Sure I understand that but at the same time I don't have time to reformat this machine as this is my main machine and I have too much going on right now.

[ISSUE] Invisible 20% usage causes computer to pause every o

Hello, I don't know how similar this is to the explorer stalling issue but I have come across a problem that is really weird. Randomly my computer will start pausing every other second. I updated spybot and ran a check, nothing. I ran KAV6 full system scan and network scan, nothing. Then I went to t...

I agree. As much as I think WGA is spyware (in the truest definition of the term), it's going to be a needed patch if only to unlock the WU/MU website for future patches. WGA should stay in. But as often as M$ is updating WGA, I would be careful to only use the most recent version. Having said that...

Maybe we should remove the WGA hotfix all together then? I'm not supporting piracy, I just think like many of the other people here that it is more like spyware. I don't want an extra service running on my PC taking away resources.

KB905474 can be removed easily from the RVM update pack. Just delete the entries in the entries.ini and the respective files associated with it. But you were right I want to remove the nag. Since it is impossible for me to read what the file says, I'm just going to install a fresh copy of XP, then h...

Where does Windows Automatic Updates store information?

Hello, I know this isn't exactly an updatepack discussion, but I figured the knowledgeable people here would know the answer to this question. Where does Windows Automatic Update store its information at? Particually updates you choose to hide? I'm sure there is a place in the registry where it keep...
