Actually you can always get .NET framework runtime prior to it's release - download the Visual Studio xxxx Express ISO and you can get it from the ISO.

Will someone be kind enough, to explain the logic behind all this discussion: IE8 and WMP11 are the only real post XP SP3 improvements and I am sure that majority users include them in their installations, jet a few people are advocating abstinence of them but including some exotics rarely used?! +1

In Chinese forums there're people worked out a way to remove OE while keeping mht support.

Keep acctres.dll inetcomm.dll inetres.dll msoeacct.dll msoert2.dll and wldap32.dll . Then register inetcomm.dll (regsvr32)


Haven't tried it ever myself though.

I'm not sure if there's someone using my .NET addon encounters such issues, at least it still works fine for me and my friends(I have several installations on my and my friends' computers of different versions of my addon).

Greyfox, you can use a version that is ok, then manually install latest updates via Windows update, then reboot and install your display driver to see what happens.

I believe latest update has revoked some digital signatures. Maybe eventually your display driver is signed by one among them, leading to your driver installing issue.

That's because language pack needs those (problematic) updates too. So you may need to add registry (like I do in .NET 2.0) to satisfy WU.

Btw, runinf is for ensuring correct 'bitness'(32 64) is runned for 64-bit OS. But since now we have 64bit sfx modules so it is not needed any more.
