How do you get the ORIGINAL install.wim file? Everything I have been able to find says you need to install the Windows AIK system to create the original. Installing this requires a 1.3 gb iso file. A bit much to download. Why can't you just copy the install DVD using something in Win 7 by default?

Argh... I don't want to have to copy everything onto a disk and build a new integrated install. The SoLoR stuff is gone. Most of the links in the original message are broken, in fact. If I download & use one of those auto-updaters from the German sites will I get German language files mixed into my ...

OK, I have successfully copied the OEM SP2 version out of Windows\i386, applied SP3, and merged the post-SP3 update pack into it. It installed and accepted the original factory key which I recovered with the 'magic jellybean finder'. Looks like I have saved a license and can now use my retail key on...

Ah, since I was using a direct bookmark I didn't even know about this thread. So, you made a 'hybrid' instead of a pure WMP 10 addon. What are the advantages of using the WMP 11 libraries? Do those play more formats than the WMP 10 libraries? Doesn't that bring along the extra DRM code that makes WM...

I suppose there's not a lot of difference between WMP 9 and WMP 10, but I'd still like to try to use the addon and have it already there rather than need to install it if I need it at some point. Does it matter if I put something ahead of the SP3 update and the RyanVM Post-SP3 update in the integrat...

OK, now I heard that only SP3 will get security patches all the way to 2014. SP1 was dropped this month and apparently SP2 gets dropped next year. So, what version of WMP will I get if I merge SP3 into my SP2 install disk with the integrator?

and btw, what's your integrating sequence?
The modified WMP is the only addon I am integrating. What possible 'sequence' could there be?

What I am wondering is what might have been lost when I unpacked the archive & repacked it. As far as I can tell the same number of files are in each archive. Is there anything about the archive that tells the integrator how to process it?

OK, I updated those three files (wmasf.dll, wmp.dll, wmvcore.dll) and made a new WMP10 addon. Then built a new install with XP Home and SP2 Update pack 2.2.3 but didn't get around to using it till today. It seems to install fine, but a dialog pops up saying WMP 'isn't installed properly' when I try ...

Ah, wait! Upon closer inspection of the 2.2.1 Update Pack, it appears it contains newer versions of the following files than what are provided in the WMP10 pack: wmasf.dll wmp.dll wmvcore.dll And also contains certain files which match in version info, filesize, date-stamp and checksum and are incl...

Success! -- and a question about services

Well, after 'getting ready' for weeks I have finally gone and done it. I installed my new drive and used the slipstreamed update to install Windows XP Home Edition. The actual install went quite smoothly, and yes it did save me a huge amount of downloading updates. Unfortunately, one of the updates ...

IE 7 and merged/updated install

OK, I see some updates in the list of fixes in the update pack that refer to IE7 but I don't see IE7 itself there. If I install WinXP SP2 with these updates applied, is IE7 already there or do I have to add it? And if I do, will that over-write any of the updates? And will IE7 then need any patches ...

Well, I simply re-ran the entire process... waiting an hour or so for the merge to finish and then made another ISO from the new update. And used DeepBurner instead of Nero to burn the CD. THIS one seems to work. Hmm... Why is it with everything associated with Windows it works or it doesn't and the...

Bootable CD is NOT bootable...

I've experienced several weird events leading up to my current situation, so let me describe them all in case there is a relationship between them. First, the Integrator seems to only run properly under Win 2k/XP. Some of us poor folk out here are still running 9x and trying to upgrade (thus my curr...
