Hi, thanks. i was looking for a more permenant one. Can i backup the files you mentioned with the tool i found, then slip the key using DISM and then copy the other 2 files to the required location and then commit the wim.

I dont think they have been made yet. But you could just download the updates yourself and slip them with WISM. It's not hard to do. :wink:

i understand that but we cant maintain vista update packs and code programmes for W7 and lead normal day to day lives all at the same time its just not possible. Also Muiz mentioned a few posts up that other people could maintain the vista update packs if they so wish. as we are short of time.

I dont think it's dead it's just windows 7 will be released in a few weeks so we are getting ready for it. Updating programmes and time is short these days.

yoiu could try using WAIK and "do it yourself". i dont mean to sound direct i have problems finding right words.

You can use WSIM to create an answer file that can be used with vista setup.exe to customize setup and installation.

It isnt just a matter of IE7 updates importing MCE updates on say vista starter will mean that they cant be installed and will fail. This fail alond can be enough for the installation to be corrupt.

There is also a cumulative update fore media centre edition that wipes out a couple of the ehome updates.


KB960544 is the new cumulative update for Media Centre (Vista) and all these have veen superceded.

It's after adding the update pack that it goes into the endless restarting loop. Either one works fine alone but when combined is when it messes up. I'm not sure which update causes it, but something is. Try removing the old IE7 updates as this can sometimes lead to all kind of problems if slipped ...

There is also the documentation that comes with WAIK, WOPK. That is why using WAIK or WOPK direct is the best method.
