Windows Gadget Platform vs Windows Sidebar?

Can anyone cogently explain the differences between these two? Are they one in the same thing? Are they somehow linked in functionality; i.e. does the Gadget Platform depend on Sidebar for anything?

Pointers to on-line docs appreciated.

thanks

Ok, for the idiots among us (mostly me)....

Is it necessary to install both 32 and 64 bit flash or do the 64 bit packages cover all the bases?

The targeted system is win7/64 but the browsers (Opera/Firefox and MSIE) are 32 bit.

I hope I've got this sequence right, it's been a while since I refreshed my XP distro. a) Take a fresh, unmangled XP distro, preferably a legit MSFT-hologrammed CD. b) Dump the contents of that CD to a directory on your PC. Copy everything, don't manually delete or change anything. c) From a command...

And..... when looking to buy a legit hologram-ed XP disk, you need to be careful about what kind of license the disk is set up to run on. There are ways to swizzle a distro to work with different licenses. But you're probably violating the EULA and may 'break/ the distro so that the slimming tools w...

Some of this is almost to be expected with XP slipping deeper into legacy and drawdown support status.

I can well imagine that MSFT has their best & brightest working on Win7, Server 2008R2, and new products which the outsourcers or noobs are put onto babysitting XP.

In some cases, old attitudes as well as old equipment needs to be thrown out.
