Most of the time, yes. There are some special cases, such as combining .NET switchless installers - that creates conflicts, but they've been solved in the all-in-one installer by RyanVM (although there's still an issue with the useless webclient service, but nevermind that). What he meant was that you should download an addon someone else made, -not- a switchless installer. For instance, get XPSysPad. You'll notice the file is a .cab; other addons will be in .zip, .rar or .7z format.

Ok his has a couple of .dlls I seem to have not found yet (Actually like 3). Plus his updates a couple of pre-existing windows .dlls His runs as a silent installer, mine is integrated into the disk Both of them can be used at anytime I include the usp10 from Vista for better windows unicode support...

Not to my knowledge (not that that helps much), but nLite can directly integrate it. Ryan is expected to make a true addon out of it eventually, which will be preferable when more updates come out for it.

Yeah, but personally I think it's much more useful to be able to right click on a file (such as an executable you want to run in a command window) while you're already inside a folder, and tell it to open a command window there. cab or 7zip is not messy. The process of compressing the archive is only used during integration. So the final i386 will not be messy. ;) Hmm? Oh, no, that's not what I meant. I have a package I maintain (for my personal needs) that contains several true addons. They're all .in_ + .cab combinations...

If you're making a true addon pack, using cabs can keep it from looking 'messy', though it'll probably end up bigger as 7zipping the whole thing won't compress it much and 7zip compression is usually better than cab. I prefer to use CabPack for my cabbing needs :P

Seeing that Windows thinks the error is HDD-related, it -sounds- like it's the SATA drivers. Do you have any other versions of those you could try? And do they work (on the effected computers) with an otherwise vanilla Windows XP SP2?

You guys are using non-English versions of Windows XP, aren't you? (crocodilechris uses German, from what I could see) Perhaps one of the runtimes needs a native version on your systems, one of the runtimes updated/added in 2.1 (if that's when the problem started)

So far as I know 6.0 (or 1.6.0) should supercede 5.0 (1.5.0).. But that's just off the top of my head, I don't really have any sources backing it up.

Actually, it doesn't show any error messages.. but I don't think it does anything. For some reason you got the old version 1.0; the new one uses AddReg, which should be correct (though redundant for Arial and Times New Roman, but I'll leave it up for reference)

Might even be related to a lousy BIOS; I updated the BIOS for this mobo once and it did something whacky to my RAM, making it corrupt basically everything.. had to go back to an earlier version to fix it. But I expect updating to a newer version is -usually- better.

Also, just discovered KB918898. It appears to update all of the runtimes from Visual Studio 2005 to version 8.0.50727.163. Maybe try to get that hotfix as well for this pack?

I suggest nLiting out some network-related stuff; eventually you should atleast find what windows component is causing the delay, if not why... (besides, I find my network much more accessible with all the windows crap nLited out.. simple file sharing especially)

Hmm, that's odd, maybe it won't create the Quicklaunch folder like yours? I'll run some tests later on, but I'm surprised it doesn't work, as I use this method for all my Quicklaunch shortcuts (unless I made a typo somewhere; the DefaultInstall version worked though)
