You can also just open the in_ files with Winrar, you know, it's just not associated by default. Also, this may not always work, since you don't need the [DefaultInstall] section for integrating addons... some leave it out. If you know how infs work, you can copy the section [Optional Components] re...

keytotime, I just reformatted, integrating your pack, and I get this weird bar at the bottom of Firefox: http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/9597/weirdbar4so.jpg I think it's a bug in the current version of Firefox 1.5.0.2, because I noticed it before but waited until I had the chance to do a fresh i...

It's a bit useless now, but to get it to install during windows setup you need to add an [Optional Components] section which in turn points to the various things you want to install. For right clicking to install: [DefaultInstall] blabla For integration: [Optional Components] Files [Files] blabla Of...

Aha! I have finally fixed the problem with spaces in the filepath/filename corrupting the shortcuts! The solution was, in fact, quite simple: strength in numbers! To make filepaths with spaces work, you need to add no less than six double quotes around it; six! I'll rewrite this guide properly when ...

Hey, thanks, that might really come in handy ^_^

By the way, another good reason for removing those external links is that a lot of them point to non-existant pages... I wish Microsoft would keep it up-to-date/keep those old pages online.

Naah, that's a Switchless Installer Addon Pack; this'd be a -true- addon pack, which IMO is always better. If bigger due to worse compression. I'd certainly be interested in this pack though :)

Do you mean if I replace say %16422%\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe with "%16422%\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"? If you do, yes they still occur. The string is read correctly, but the quotes are assumed to be needed for correct interpretation of the string, and so aren't copied into the target field no ...

It doesn't matter if you set the start path or not, so long as you point it at the right file in the right absolute (though environment variables work) path, it works fine. You can still set it if you want though Edit: Oh, and make sure the whole section that describes the shortcut's attributes is q...

Aha! Check here: http://www.robvanderwoude.com/shortcutinf.html for full syntax information for the created shortcuts! He says that putting quotes around the <target> field extends it to long file names; perhaps the other fields have to be included for this to work?

Neat way to create quicklaunch (or otherwise) shortcuts

I thought I'd post it here since I haven't seen it mentioned before. Since I'm crap at explaining, I'll just post some example code below, using µTorrent, installed to %ProgramFiles%\µTorrent. [DefaultInstall] UpdateInis = µTorrent.quicklaunch [µTorrent.quicklaunch] setup.ini,progman.groups,,QLaunch...

I believe you can input the decompressed filesize in the inf, like this:

[SourceDisksFiles]
setup.exe = 1,,114

I dunno if that's the solution, though, and you'll probably have to input it in bytes.
