Crikey, I've never bothered to use any of this BartPE malarkey before, even though I recall the name bouncing around on the net many a time.

Most particularly if you were stupid - like me - and tried to quick-install both .NET Frameworks with one of RogueSpear's switchless installers under the assumption that the problem with the registry key had been fixed (according to the notes) and it was safe to use anytime after XP had finalised it...

If you're thinking of CPL File Maker, that's what I use, but its icon support is rubbish unfortunately. If you try using just a 48x48 icon it distorts part of the icon graphic when you look at it through the Control Panel. I knew of CPL Generator too but that one's even worse when it comes to icons....

Grrrr except it turns out the icon data is put in the CPI file, which you can't edit without making another one again. :(

I wish I knew if there was another way of making CPL files, and ones where you can apply a wider icon range to them. If MS can do it.......

That may be so, but the way things are nobody can access SafeXP from the Control Panel, as its specific CPL and CPI don't actually exist in the archive! I'm serious, extract all pserv and safexp files (from your pack) into system32, then try running the two new identical icons from the Control Panel...

safexp is only for services pserv does a hell of a lot more. Maybe so, but the fact is the current version of the pack contains a clone of pserv alongside the original, albeit under a different filename. After some playing around and examining and that, I've come across two major clunkers with the current format regarding theme configurations... 1) It doesn't appear to recognise the "Hand" handle at all in the Cursors section, so any custom cursor you choose for the Link Select function gets ignored...

Looking up info on txtsetup code though, apparently by default it's not even installed/copied to the system by Text Setup. So I wonder why they even included it in the first place? Almost, I meant when you examine the files on your HD after installation has finished. All their date stamps have changed to whatever the time in which you created the compressed version was. I'm rather picky about what should be modified and what shouldn't!

www.libsdl.org and all that.

An addon like this would probably help with running apps/emus that are built with SDL and require SDL.dll and other libraries linked to it, especially when many of these apps/emus forget to bundle the dll with them etc.
