Not everyone wants IE7 and WMP11, plus Ryan includes some non-public hotfixes and does a LOT of testing, so yes there's still a demand for Ryan's pack. I believe the 8.3 compliant issue has to do with IE7 and you can apply OnePiece's IE7 cosmetic addon in addition to this update pack to take care of...

:) I mean "ugly" because of it's issues, incompleteness, not supposed to be slipstreamed with MCE 2005...et cetera, et cetera. I actually dumb down almost (but not quite) all the UI parts of XP on all my own computers because I'm normally looking to get every ounce of speed I can from these computers.

I also have the MSDN sp3 release. No errors with this pack... OK, this begs the question: What's the difference between the MSDN SP3 file and the standard M$ SP3 download here? The only other difference would be the integration method of both SP3 and this update pack. /integrate, or RVMI, or nLite?...

I give it up to make a up to date WinXP its pointless no one knows what updates are missing or what updates should be included in SP3. I hope you don't take offense, but maybe you've lost sight of the original purpose of these update packs, which is to make things much easier than manually updating...

Typical Microsoft with an earlier numbered hotfix with a higher version file with a file date of 5/30/2008 than a later numbered hotfix with a lower version of the same file although it's dated 6/10/2008.

It's never a good idea to double-integrate, so I wouldn't advise it. As to whether it works or not, you would probably have to let us know.

If you don't feel like actually going to your audio "card" manufacturer, or the Asus website for drivers, you can try Windows or Microsoft Update. It's a crapshoot but there's a reasonable probability that it will offer you very near the latest drivers available under the "Hardware" section after it...

Well, weird. I just tried it from another computer and it's working for me, too. After it happened on the original computer, I tried again the first link to his IE7 addon and that worked, only this one didn't. Oh well, thanks!

Video drivers can affect power options. I don't remember seeing them affect it to that degree before, but it's possible. Had you installed the Virtual PC Additions in your guest OS, where it installs the current Windows drivers for use with Virtual PC?

I can confirm what Outbreaker said: the issue that people originally had integrating MS's original IE7 installer with nLite, where IE7 hotfixes wouldn't install, is now gone. I used the very latest nLite v1.4.6.

I'm sure it won't. They also put quotes around Slipstream so they may mean something not quite a real slipstream. It could be something like an Updates folder such as they have for Office 2007. Maybe SP2 will be truely slipstreamable but it will add the Updates folder feature for non-Service Pack up...
