Well, if it popped up at random and said "Thanks for Running Genuine Windows", that would be a problem. But, it's totally invisable and really causes no problems that I can see. It seems to be required already. Add it then.

Don't include the file in the source directory, point to it in another location. It is not needed as a file, only as a boot image.

As you said before, it seems very odd that no one else has reported this. Is it possible that it requires another factor along with the hotfix, one that is unique (or almost so) to you.
For example, your tweaks plus the hotfix.

While dgelwin is sleeping, did anyone figure out how to get rid of that t-13 error properly? Editing the inf did not kill it and I don't see it in cmdent.cmd.

Might be just a bad day to release? This one wanted to install Latest version of Microsoft Installer, then latest WGA, then requested a reboot --- all this upon first visit to Microsoft Update. Your version 1.0 did not do this, but maybe they changed stuff today?

The only thing that I can say is that it works properly with VMware 5 after your fix. Before the fix, it exhibited the disappearing window and silent reboot as you reported with Virtual PC.
