SP4 registry

Post by Rekel » Sun Dec 11, 2016 4:37 am

Found out there are two possible registry hacks applying to XP SP3 to receive POSReady2009 update.

1)

Code: Select all

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\POSReady]
"Installed" = dword: 00000001
2)

Code: Select all

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\WindowsEmbedded\ProductVersion]
"FeaturePackVersion"="SP3"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\WEPOS]
"Installed"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\WES]
"Installed"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\WPA\PosReady]
"Installed"=dword:00000001
The latter seems an expanse of the former, but what is the reliable one to apply on an XP SP3 fresh installation? And which is the one used on SP4?
Applying the 1) or 2) registry hacks could delivery not the same updates and not in the same time cadence? This is the doubt coming from seeing the update list on 2 machine with the two different registry hack.

There's some uncertainty and confusion in this stuff as you can see:
