pack 2.0.4 won't work for me, 2.0.3 worked

Post by AndyMutz » Wed Mar 15, 2006 8:28 am

hi ryan!

i just recently found out about your xp update packs and immediately started making updated xp versions. however i encountered a problem with your new update pack 2.0.4.

i had no problems integrating pack 2.0.3 with integrator 1.1, all went well.
now i tried integrating pack 2.0.4 with integrator 1.2 and the integration process hang at "Expanding SP2.cab". i waited for an hour but nothing happened. so i tried pack 2.0.3 again, this time with integrator 1.2. all went well, so it's not the new integrator version's fault. so i once more tried pack 2.0.4 and it hang at the same step again.

here's the log:

I would suggest you try again after redownloading 2.0.4

Why? His MD5 sum in the log matches the one on the website...

AndyMutz - try Integrator 1.1 (if you still have it) and see what happens. If you're booting from the CD to install Windows, it won't make a difference what Integrator you use. You can also try 1.2.2 which was recently posted, but I doubt that'll fix your problems.

Otherwise, have you tried the obvious stuff like restarting your computer? Nothing's changed as far as I know in the Integrator that would cause your computer to start randomly hanging when extracting CAB files.

well, i don't know what it is, but it seems to be random.
after some tests, i can say, it's neither the integrator version nor the update pack version. sometimes it finishes integrating without any errors and sometimes it hangs (the point at which it hangs, seems also random.. sometimes while extracting some cab files, sometimes while rebuilding them) and i can't seem to find the reason for that.
my PC is prime95 stable, so it's not that. right now, it's a mystery to me, why that happens..

I know this sounds dumb but... running out of space on your hard drive during integration?

the drive with the destination directory has 55 GB of free space (see my log file in first post).
the drive with the source directory has 6 GB free.
the drive where the TEMP directory resides (i don't even know if the integrator uses this directory, because it makes an own temp directory inside the destination directory) has 2 GB free.

i could make some more room to test it, but i think this won't help in my case.
