FANTASTIC! Thanks.

One question, I assume we still have to apply KB912945 by other means or did this bugger disappear off MU?

Code: Select all

archvapp.inf = 100,,,,,,,111,0,0
cobramsg.dll = 100,,,,,,,111,0,0
guitrna.dll  = 100,,,,,,,111,0,0
migisma.dll  = 100,,,,,,,111,0,0
migwiza.exe  = 100,,,,,,,111,0,0
scripta.dll  = 100,,,,,,,111,0,0
sysmoda.dll  = 100,,,,,,,111,0,0
what are these files. The txtsetup.sif gets stuck, has no idea where to put them, so i removed the lines above for windows to setup without a halt error. can you look at this in your new pack, and let us know what they are, and what the lines should read.
Thank you
Jesse

sorry my bad!
for some reason i didnt have the following line in my txtsetup.sif

Code: Select all

111 = system32\usmt
re-added that, and all is fine.

Thank you for another Fantasic Pack!

My guess is that nLite was involved ;). Now if I only I could convince people to stop posting their problems until they've actually confirmed them on a clean CD with just the Integrator used...

Ah, that would do it :)

EDIT: Actually, now that you mention it, keytotime should probably add those files to his removal pack so that others don't run into that problem as well.

This version has inspired me to add 8.3 compliance checking for all files in next version of FGCBA !
For recursive checking/renaming files to be 8.3 conform you might find my shortify.cmd useful, see here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=71011 If you onlywant to check, please comment out the two lines beginning with "ren ..", so you will only get a file $$Rename.txt that contains all files not 8.3 compliant.

Btw. Bâshrat the Sneaky has promised to make one of the next versions of his Driver Pack 8.3 conform.

Ryan,
why do I need the 909608 hotfix if it is to fix an issue related with 900725 that is not in your pack?
and the 909441 is intended just for english, right?

Look at the first post of this thread:
Added KB909608 Hotfix. Replaces KB900725 Hotfix.
durr......

And the entire pack is intended for English only, as it says all over my site in very plain English. Heck, I've even got an entire FAQ entry dedicated to that question.

The durr was directed at the first comment, but whatever. If you have that thin of skin, you've got other problems.

As for KB909441 - every translated version of the KB article points to the same file, so my hunch is that mmsys.cpl is language-independent.

One question 912475, is just an update of registry ?

Another question : KB905213 and KB912024 . KB912024 is update of KB905213 ? Why KB905213 is in pack ?

KB905213 contain : folder home and pro with :
* home : input.inf and keyboard.inf
* pro : input.inf, keyboard.inf and irbus.inf

In KB912024 contain hidir.sys and folder home and pro with same file in KB905213.

I have found another problem, in changelog you suppresss KB900808, but you keep Fastfat.sys in your pack (not cat and inf file) !

I have found this "problem" because I make april pack french base on your works !

I think he left the old fastfat.sys in the pack to revert anybody who used the prior pack.

I have found another little problem in inf file for KB907865 :

You put
HKLM,"%SP3UPDATES%\KB907865\Filelist\0","Version",0,"5.1.2600.2689"
And number version is :
HKLM,"%SP3UPDATES%\KB907865\Filelist\0","Version",0,"5.1.2600.2760"

Thank You RyanVM for the new 2.0.5 update :)
Is there going to be a update fix added for KB908531 that's in 2.0.5 ?
Microsoft this weekend released a support document outlining lockup and unresponsive software problems that an April 11 security fix causes, but the only workaround involves editing Windows' registry, a chore usually left to advanced users.
The above was said in regaurds to MS06-015 (KB908531).
The work around can be found http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/918165?

Dang , so RyanVM gets his stuff right and M$ has to screw it and blame HP or Other third party proggies.

Just asking as I'm about to make another UA with the 2.0.5 , but if there's an addon fix coming I'll hold off. If not then I'll add the offending reg entry to my tweaks.reg

Cheers

I've got a feeling HP is going to have to update their software to properly work within that framework. As a short term solution, I probably will include the registry changes from KB918165 in the next pack (I'm no huge rush to add it myself).

The way I read the story was that the problem involved an older version of HP's software. I believe I got my info over at Softedia. Anyhow, the impression I got was that the current version of the software was not affected. So perhaps you're entitled to an update in the software?

I don't know... my HP software is barely XP compliant. It will not work with multiple user profiles. HP hasn't updated it in years and the printer/scanner/fax still works like a champ in my network. In my case updated software will not be provided.

I'll try to make a temp addon including the registry changes when I can, but I can't guarantee its effectiveness because I don't have a full understanding of the problem.

Do you have a link, RogueSpear?

@ViVa: I haven't in years! :wink:

But I do happen to prefer HP for printers, scanners, and scientific graphing calculators. You can't beat Reverse Polish Notation and the damn thing did most of the work for me when taking Calc and PreCalc finals over 10 years ago. :P

Hi Ryan and All,
When I'm going to the Windows Update (Not Microsoft Update. I always disable it.) website, Its says that Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP (KB912812) is available for me. but QFECheck says: KB912812: Current on system. I installed XP on a real PC and completely sure that I installed Ryan's pack correctly, and not using any hacked file. Is a new version of KB912812 available?
Thank you.
With best regards,
Armond.
Edit: OK, I installed the update through the Windows Update. It failed to installed the update first, then I shut down PC to install it again. When PC restarts, It does not says that updates are available for your computer. All my file versions are the same of the Ryan's pack.
What should my problem? :?:

OK, MS has updated the KB908531 security bulletin with an FAQ entry detailing their plan to re-release the update next Tuesday. They won't be changing any of the files themselves, they'll just have the installer add the entries recommended by KB918165 to fix the issues people are having with the HP software and older nVidia drivers (<61.94). I'm not planning on doing any kind of pack update for this issue, but I will be including those registry entries in 2.0.6 next month.

Have you tried an install with no nLite involved as my bug reporting guidelines specifically tell you to do if nLite is in the picture?

Judging by your other thread in the Addons forum, it sounds like you've got other issues.
