No, it's already superseded by another fix in the pack.

Hi Ryan,
I do have also problem with HDA hotfix.
In fact, i'm integrating the latest bashrats driver packs when DriverPack Sound A 6.08.1 start to be inegrated i have "English (RyanVM's) UpdatePack detected: no HDA hotfix will be slipstreamed." message.
Here my Driver problem and solution (manually) after UA installation.

Guys, I'll look into the HDA issues. It's weird, because I have some beta testers (including myself on my laptop) with HDA and we didn't run into any issues during 2.1.3 testing.

This isn't the thread for those types of announcements...

I closed that thread because it's irrelevant these days, as in those types of announcements aren't really needed at all
. But if it makes you feel important, you can start a new thread in General Discussion for announcing new fixes.
As the title of this thread says, it's for discussing 2.1.3.

I'm literally home & awake for literally 2-3 hours a day right now, so looking into that has been way at the bottom of the list of things to do.

I just went through a day and a half rebuilding a hard drive. This one was so hard to find, but I bet it happens to someone else at some point.
On my work computer I have a second hard disk for data and that's where I keep all of my stuff for making installs. After spending several hours trying to figure out why I couldn't make an install that wasn't corrupt I decided to check out the MD5s on all of my downloads. They all came out OK. For the hell of it I decided to test all of them with WinRAR's test archive function. Ryan's Update Pack failed. Ok, no problem. I tested the Update Pack archive on my laptop and it was fine so I copied it over to my desktop. WinRAR test archive -> corrupt. MD5 -> match.
I then let SpinRite spend 49 hours doing the level 5 scan on the drive and it found a few dozen bad sectors, marked them as bad, etc. So the moral of the story is that somehow or another - I didn't think this was even possible - your archive file may pass MD5 checking, but a defective hard disk can hide some problems from you.

@RyanVM
I think darkradx is right (see post further up). The file "hdaudres.dll" in the 2.1.3 package IS corrupt. The file must have been bad before you made the checksum, because my download of the RVM 2.1.3 package is kosher according to the md5. But if I download the KB888111 and extract the "hdaudres.dll" and then do a contents-compare between this file and the one in your package, I get a difference on line 0110 (in hex).
Here's the RVM 2.1.3 "hdaudres.dll" (Build 5.10.01.5013):
0110: 64 86 00 00 02 00 00 04
Here's the KB888111 "hdaudres.dll" (Build 5.10.01.5013):
0110: 00 00 00 00 02 00 00 04

@ Kishiro: Thanks for the headsup. I am sure Ryan solved this problem, as he knows this from both darkradx and coukou's posts.

Have you guys confirmed that replacing the file in i386 with the "uncorrupted" version fixes the problem?

I dunno. The SHA1 hash on hdaudres.dll is the same for me whether it's from the pack or extracted from KB888111. Combine that with the fact that it seems only a few people are experiencing it, and I really don't know what's going on.buletov wrote:So what will be the fix for this?

not to answer out of turn, but who the hell do you think you are?
if i was Ryan YOUR post would have the glaring effect of making SURE that the pack was not released any time soon.. be very glad that i am NOT ryan..
i dont have his patience, or most likely his dedication...
in conclusion.. grow up.. as the faq states the pack will be done when it is done.. till then DONT ASK

How about the same time you decide to post something worthwhile?WhoWeAre wrote:When do you plan on releasing 2.1.4, jackass?
I'll tell you what, take a week to learn some manners and then come back.

Thank you RyanVM
For that I feel that "WhoWeAre" should be banned and be prevented from downloading anything from RyanVM since Ryan has so much going on and puts so much work into these update packs anyone who doesn’t treat him with respect should not deserve to live! I am very happy that he goes out of his way to make these update packs and he has helped me sooo much that I can’t even think of how to repay him.WhoWeAre wrote:When do you plan on releasing 2.1.4, jackass?

Ryan has a 'tip jar' link on his main page.
Just click the PayPal logo at the bottom of this page.
Be as generous as your conscience tells you.
Ryan, I promised you a beer. Use the $$ I dropped in your tip jar to tide you over until I can get back to Philly (maybe this year).

HDA fix for 2.1.3
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JUSQSGN5
cab compressed authentic hdaudres.dll (from kb888111) to replace the corrupt version in 2.1.3
after applying 2.1.3 to your cd, overwrite the file in i386 with this one.

Re: HDA fix for 2.1.3
It's weird. My local extracted copy of KB888111 has a different SHA1 hash for hdaudres.dll than the one you posted, so I redownloaded the hotfix and sure enough, that one has the same hash as yours. Don't know how mine got corrupted, but I'm glad you noticed. Thanks for your helpophiel wrote:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JUSQSGN5

I noticed the whole Jackass fiasco. . . But now overdue 2 days from every other month I am getting a little twitchy myself woundering when oh when. . . BUT I WONT ASK. . . I never want a break from RyanVM forums. . My IE7 is opened to this forum all day and night with me pressing refresh!
let's just say looking foward to the next few packs you release (including IE7, MP11, DOT.NET fx 3) BUT formost your Main Pack has priority as no one elses compares to the stability of yours.
thatsanuffsaidexcept Thanks!
