in your update you have included MSXML 3.0 SP5, there is a newer version avaliable, SP7 (8.70.1104.0) its included in Windows 2003 SP1 and also MDAC 2.8 SP1

Code: Select all

----------------------------
OEM-ZQ5TUQVB9LP (192.168.0.242)
----------------------------

	* WINDOWS SERVER 2003, STANDARD EDITION SP1

	Note		MS05-009	887472
	Please refer to 306460 for a detailed explanation.

	Warning		MS05-027	896422
	File version is greater than expected.
	[C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\srv.sys, 5.2.3790.2476 > 5.2.3790.2437]
.....
	* MSXML 3.0 SP7

	Information
	There are no security updates available for this product.

	Warning
	The latest service pack for this product is not installed.
	Currently SP7 is installed. The latest service pack is SP5.
.....
I find the warning a bit odd seeing it ovisouly isnt the latest version.. though where was SP6?

and where is the second resorce file MSXML3A.DLL?

Interesting given that MDAC 2.8 SP1 is supposed to be included with XP SP2. Thanks for the headsup.

No problem, find it odd that HFNetChk, even when getting the XML page from Microsoft reports MSXML3.0 SP7 to be out of date and to replace it with SP5

It's a known issue.

This article from the Shavlik Knowledge Base says there is an updated version of the scan engine available for their commercial products that fixes this issue, but I was unable to find one for the free version.
