Known Issues
  • Windows setup can appear to hang at the T39 stage for ~10 minutes.
  • Hotfix installation may hang for a long period of time.
These issues along with some other similar issues are all related to a problem with the number of security catalog files being installed by this update pack. I have contacts within Microsoft that are helping me with the problem, but progress is slow-going. This is a problem which I intend to resolve, but it may take time to do so. Please be patient and be assured that I'm working on it.

The site update looks awesome, Ryan. Just downloaded everything and am ready to get started. Huge thanks to you, Siginet, araknis, the beta testers, and everyone else involved in making this pack happen. You can expect a donation from me in a couple weeks. Please keep up the great work!

Is this normal for Integrator 1.0 RC7 not to create a [OptionalSrcDirs] section in dosnet.inf?

I've got a lot of hotfixes that I'd like to put it that are going unused at the moment. And a few of the ones you pointed out are already slated for the next version. I wanted 1.3.1 to simply update 1.3.0 with the August security updates, otherwise I'd have to spend that much more time integrating/testing if I started adding more random fixes.

Finally! Thanks for updates we waited patiently for so long!
How about to include MediaPlayer 10.0.0.3923 instead of 10.0.0.3802 into addon pack?

With nlite if you remove components that delete certain files updated by hotfixes from the 1.3.1 update pack, does that mean the CAT files correspodning to the removed hotfixed compoents won't be processed and they will be totally ignored during installation? So the CAT file processing limit shouldn't affect those of us who removeceratin components that had their files updated from hotfixes?

Correct. While what Link describes could conceptually be done, it would take me making a list of files each CAT file signs and keeping it updated for nuhi to reference. To put it bluntly, that ain't going to happen anytime soon.

If you want to do that manually yourself, though, you can use this file as a reference to you.

In speaking, I actually tried doing it myself by deleting the CAT files for the removed hotfixes and removing the corresponding CAT file entries from svcpack.inf file. Would that work? Or do the registry entries have to be removed from RVMUpPck.inf as well?

Don't forget that updates mostly build upon each other, so the 1.2.2b update mostly updated files already existing in 1.2.2. The same applies to 1.3.1. Also, the extras were removed and made into a seperate addon pack, which cut down on the size.

I've heard of people waiting anywhere from 5-20 minutes.

I'm going to advise you to get into contact with Siginet. Sounds like it may not be editing txtsetup.sif properly.

Surcix there was a topic somewhere here, where siginet mentioned a way to bring up task manager during windows install to see if your program has hung or not, i would help but i dont remember the keys you have to press, pm siginet maybe he can help you to at least figure out what is wrong, oh yeah just to be sure windows stays at 39 minutes remaining for between 15 and 20 minutes.

First of all :
Thank you very much for your work, Ryan and I wish u a long and happy life together with your wife !!!

Now, something about my little problem :
I experienced tonight a very long hangup during the installation process - in fact, after at least an hour and a half, i cancelled the installation process and I'm back to a win xp pro sp2 + 1.2.2b package slipstream, which works like a charm for me ....

Just a question for you : if for example I'm not interested in updating WMP to the 10th version, is there any posibility for the installation process with such a slipstreamed CD 2 work better ? Or could you release a 1.3.0 version ?
In the limit of a little spare time I could experiment any posibility you think that could be better ....

I'm not exactly an expert in WinXP SP2 installation progress, but it was somewhere in "Installing Windows/Completing installation" (almost at the end). All others sliptreamed CDs until now worked perfectly.

virgilash did you slipstreamed the update into a previously slipstreamed cd or did you slipstream it into a fresh winxpsp2 copy.?
because that might be your problem.

No, dgelwin, I used a win xp sp2 pro fresh CD.
It's not my first slipstreamed CD, always I use the same sp2 clean CD, until now I didn't have any problem.

.......

OK, I admit a 1% probability about that CD not to be a fresh SP2 CD. Could u tell me how to check if it is a clean CD ?

here is something for surcix and virgilash, siginet recently posted this tip to view task manager during install so you can know if your install is hung, and whats exactly going on Click Me

and pawan i had your problem in two cases,
1.- you updated a previously updated source
2.- you edited your source folder using nlite before updating with ryans pack.

ive noticed if you edit your soucre folder with nlite before updating it causes those types of problems, your lucky it was only sp2, sometimes depending on the changes you made with nlite, you can either hand the windows install or the integrator while its updating.

Installed today and worked like a dream. also used bts driverpack ... everything worked like a charm.... i wonder about the possibility of the switchless installed (.net for example) being packed into a cab and being able to be used by ryans integrator, perhaps maybe its even time to build it into the update pack?? Whats everyone else think?? i could i spose just build it into the cd to run, but as a cab would require less effort on my part. any chance of this ryan??

Otherwise ryan, i hope your wedding went well... and when are the kids due?? hehehe *RUNS VERY FAST*

I'm the father of 7 month old twins ... so be nice :)
