RyanVM Update Pack 2.1.8 - Released March 20, 2007

Post by RyanVM » Tue Mar 20, 2007 5:16 pm

What's New
Version 2.1.8
  • Added KB925922 Hotfix. Replaces KB916852 Hotfix.
  • Added KB927891 Hotfix.
  • Added KB929338 Hotfix.
  • Added KB929624 Hotfix. Replaces KB920183 Hotfix.
  • Added KB932590 Hotfix.
  • Added KB932597 Hotfix. Replaces KB916846 Hotfix.
  • Added KB932823 Hotfix. Replaces KB911066 Hotfix.
  • Updated KB931125 Hotfix.
  • Updated Malicious Software Removal Tool to version 1.27.
  • Updated MSXML 6.0 to SP1.
For the love of God, read the nLite or Integrator directions for how to properly integrate this pack.

Notes
  • nLite 1.3 or RyanVM Integrator 1.4.3 is required to properly integrate this release.
  • If you used nLite to integrate the pack and are having problems, PLEASE read this thread before reporting problems.
Download Here
Or From My BitTorrent Tracker

Known Issues
  • .NET Framework 3.0 won't install with 2.1.8 integrated. Fix below. The addon can be integrated with the Update Pack or after the fact.
    http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/files/dotnet3fix_addon.7z (27.7KB)
    MD5: 5E7E36984A9D8398E39FD6939B9FBC9F
  • High Definition Audio isn't working right for some people. As a workaround, replace the two hdaudio INFs with the ones from the September Update Pack (or directly extracted from KB888111).
  • Yes, setuperr.log whines about plugin.ocx being missing. This is completely intended behavior and is nothing to worry about. I'll update the FAQ with a more detailed explanation later.
If you do run into anything you think is an error, be sure to consult with the FAQ on my site before asking about it here.

tested twice along with a load (23!) of other addon packs, runs fine in a VM as well as on 'real hardware.

The 'real' hardware is a sempron 2000+, 256 Mb ram, Matrox graphics.

Can I know if KB929338 files in RVM come from SP2QFE or SP2GDR?

You can thank the asshats sending thousands upon thousands of requests at my server all at the same time. I maintain a rather large .htaccess block list as they pop up, but it's extremely difficult to stay on top of it. I'm going to have to resort to using the torrent tracker as the primary distribution method for the first few days I think. Dreamhost is getting rather pissed at me because my site is constantly bringing down the server it's hosted on.

I call them as I see them. There's no rational reason why one single IP address needs to send over 13,000 requests at my download server in the span of a single day. And yes, that's a true example of someone I added to the list this morning.

Did you download the update pack from Ryan's site? If you did, then this might just be a false positive.

Care to elaborate on that? The updatepack does not have a virus in it. I don't see why any AV software would even get a false positive in it either. There isn't any scripts in it that would do so

Dude... joking about viruses on a site like this is not funny. 2.1.9 would be out in approximately 3 weeks. We release just after microsoft releases new hotfixes. So if you are thinking there are so many releases because the UpdatePack is buggy... you're strongly mistaken. It's been pretty bug free for quite a long time now.

Just a quick question...
Is it possible that the update to MSXML breaks the dotnet 3.0 install ?
I ran all the components of it manually and the only one that seems to fail on install is the MSXML6 contained in the dotnet release.
