Updates Not Installed?

Post by TJHart85 » Thu Jan 13, 2005 5:02 pm

I used nLite 0.99.6 to integrate the update pack 1.05

I started with a clean copy of XP and told nLite I wanted to slipstream SP2 and that I wanted to install hotfixes. I didn't do anything else, and I removed nothing.

nLite then slipstreamed and installed the hotfixes, and when I install Windows and run QFECHECK, I get this:

Code: Select all

Windows XP Hotfix Validation Report for \\TEMP

Report Date: 1/14/2005  3:47am

Current Service Pack Level: Service Pack 2

Hotfixes Identified:

KB834707: This hotfix should be reinstalled.

KB873339:  Current on system.

KB883523: This hotfix should be reinstalled.

KB884020: This hotfix should be reinstalled.

KB885222:  Current on system.

KB885523: This hotfix should be reinstalled.

KB885626: This hotfix should be reinstalled.

KB885835: This hotfix should be reinstalled.

KB885836:  Current on system.

KB885894: This hotfix should be reinstalled.

KB885932: This hotfix should be reinstalled.

KB886185: This hotfix should be reinstalled.

KB886677: This hotfix should be reinstalled.

KB887742: This hotfix should be reinstalled.

Here is a clipping from my DOSNET.INF file:

Code: Select all

[OptionalSrcDirs]
svcpack

[Files]
d1,RVMUpPck.inf
d1,RVMUpPck.cab
d1,usetup.exe,system32\smss.exe
d1,ntdll.dll,system32\ntdll.dll

[CmdConsFiles]
autochk.exe
and here is a clipping from my TXTSETUP.SIF:

Code: Select all

240 = ehome

[SourceDisksFiles]
RVMUpPck.inf = 1,,,,,,,20,0,0
RVMUpPck.cab = 100,,,,,,_x,,3,3
bootvid.dll  = 1,,,,,,3_,2,0,0,,1,2
It is my understanding that if I use nLite I don't need to replace the SYSOC.INF file, correct? I checked the version that nLite adds reguardless, and did a simple check for RVM and this is what I get (this is under the [COMPONENTS]):

Code: Select all

HotfixUpdates=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,[b]RVMUpPck.inf[/b],HIDE,7
[Global]

I am sorry for making such a large post my first time, I just want to make sure I answer as many questions as I can.

I would also like to mention that I am not using an unattended disc (I tried and it did the same thing, so I'm using the disc that wasn't modified in any way other than adding SP2 and RVM update pack).

Thanks in advance!

Looks like an nLite bug. Take it up with nuhi.

OK

Ok, I'm not a fan of nLite anyways, I only used it because I wanted to start with a "gold" copy of Windows XP and update to SP2 and then use your pack.

Thanks Ryan for all the hard work you've put into your pack! There are many people using it without problems, so I think you must be right. I'll try the good old fashioned way, and patch everyting my self

OK, I just wanted to tell everyone that when RYANVM was integrated manually, it works just fine!

Thanks again Ryan for all your hard work!
