Like I said in another thread, bandwidth isn't an issue for me currently. It won't be until June unless I get a better host. If possible, I'd like to keep everything on the same server, as that makes things far less complex. Unless someone wants to write me a PHP download script, that is

First, you don't need to post the same thing in two threads. Second, like I said in the other thread, if it's on Warp2Search or Neowin, I know about it already.

It's time for fun.
Edit:
Superseeded by KB889085:
KB888083 - The "Write these files to CD" option is not available in Windows Explorer after a Group Policy setting is applied in Windows XP
KB873392 - If you delete or add folders in a network-shared folder, Windows Explorer does not show the change in Windows XP
Superseeded by KB887589:
KB872789 - Logging off or restarting the computer after switching users may cause Windows XP to stop responding

So, now it's becoming apparent that 1.2 is going to be coming sooner than I thought
I've got some other ideas in mind for 1.2 as well.

No, I won't run into bandwidth problems.
That being said, I might delay 1.1 anyway just because I'm thinking it'll be annoying to release 1.1 this week and then 1.1.1 next week when new security patches arrive.

I don't think KB888083 is superceded by 889085 as according to MS, 888083 has the newer shell32.dll by 5 hours! version + size are identical in both.keytotime wrote:It's time for fun.

It should be the other way around, as 889085 only contains one file (shell32.dll) and 888083 has the newer timestamp.
EDIT: It's actually the right way round in hp38guser's long list, so ignore this post.
Frankly, I don't think the time stamp matters anyway. Build number should be all that matters.
And yes, I've decided to push back 1.1 in favor of 1.2. It helps mesh better with some other changes I want to make (think automatic integration without nLite
), and gives me more time to work on the site. Like I've said previously in other threads, bandwidth really isn't an issue until June when I move off campus. However, I will most certainly have a new host by then anyway with a LOT more bandwidth
. Plus, I've already started using one of the mirrors offered to me for the beta releases people have been trying out. Aside from having a slow upload rate, the download speeds seem to be nice and fast with it.
If 1.2 isn't ready to go by next week, I'll probably make a quick 1.0.6 release with any new security patches MS releases for the time being.
I want to make sure that 1.1/1.2 are done right, so I'm willing to take extra time to ensure that. 1.1 is running quite solid with all the testers at least, so things appear to be going well

Read the tentative 1.1 changelog on the second page of the 1.0.5 thread. Anything that's light blue is in 1.1. All of the teal ones will be in 1.2.
However, since 1.1 will not be getting a public release, yes, they'll all be in 1.2.
And you get the hotfixes by emailing them and asking.

Click on one of the links to the KB articles. Read it. It'll make sense if you do a little reading.

So it doesn't NEED to be installed (unless you have the problem), but COULD be (without adverse effects)?A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Windows XP service pack that contains this hotfix.
And this hotfix WOULD eventually surface, in WinXP-SP3. Correct?
keytotime, always look out for new fixes.

Well, I've begun the long trod towards getting all this stuff in a usable form
. Thanks to Hive2INF, it shouldn't take very long once I get some time to just sit down for a few hours and do it.
Of course, this week had to be midterm week for my classes too.

None that I can see in VirtualPC anyway. That's what I'm hoping the public beta on real systems will tell me

So far only MDAC 2.8 hotfix package is released. I'm not quite sure if MDAC 2.8 comes with XP SP2
Here's the link anyway:

EDIT: I just looked at the file versions. XP SP2 comes with 2.81 and the files post-version all of the files in that hotfix.
New updates
Some new post-sp2 fixes added.
However since more and more people becoming SP2 MCE users I would suggest to also include those updates. Meaby as an addition so pure XP SP2 users shouldn't have to download them. I marked those updates white.
