@ RancorX2:

You do not need to phone MS! Just do this:

all you need is a retail product key and a bit of time.

First, Go here and click on the "Start E-mail Request" link.

Then, get your PID (product id) from display properties and paste it into the form.

Finaly, Enter your request (KB number and language version: english) along with the OS version, your name and email address. Click submit and your done.

@ The_Guy: Mail me the hotfix I can try it. knacki99(at)gmx.net

Damit.. i upgraded the php script and it now doesn`t support uploads if the login system is disable.. which is why there was no upload option :(

For now i`ve enabled the login system but you don`t need to login to upload. ;)

lol, so supposedly KB912812 has been out since 3/31.

BTW, KB904942 is already in Update Pack 2.0.4 ;)

EDIT: Nice, they updated KB904942 on MU but they haven't updated the KB article or the official download page to reflect that. Also, KB911565 has been updated apparently.

Ryan, any new nasties to report with the new batch of MS Tuesday(TM) vApril06 updates with integration problems similar to KB912945?

Things seem to be going OK. I've had a working 2.0.5 since last night, but I'm waiting a bit to release until I'm reasonably sure no issues are going to pop up from people who've installed the security updates on their own. I already found one typo in one of the INFs from MS

Hi Ryan,

Just curious as to which Hotfix you saw the typo in?

Is this a common issue with MS Hotfixes? Have you come across any other issues with them which might cause problems?

Kind Regards

Simon

Hi Ryan,
Thank you for working on Update Pack 2.0.5!
Will you include KB904942 (Newest version) and also the KB917425 Compatibility Patch?
Thank you very much again.
With best regards,
Armond.

KB904942 - of course
KB917425 - no, because MS has said it'll only work until June anyway. Might as well get used to the new behavior.

You're completely missing the point. It's an update which only delays the inevitable. I'm not going to waste time adding a "fix" which will only be valid for two months.

Just to explain, Microsoft lost a patent case to a company called Eolas, so they have had to change the functionality of interactive plugins in webpages (like Flash, Real, WMP, etc.) such that the user will have to click on the content before they can interact with it. MS is required by law to make IE work like this, so they included this new functionality with the April security rollup. However, MS is providing a compatibility patch (KB917425) so developers will have a couple months to test their stuff with the new functionality. However, after June, MS will stop providing the patched MSHTML file and each IE update will include the new functionality. So Ryan isn't going to put something in his update pack that will be defunct in just two months.

911565v2-replaces 911565 original and 912452.
908531-replaces 893086 and 890047 (you should install 900725 instead of these 2) 900725 is NOT replaced
911567-887797 and 900930
912812-replaces all previous IE updates (905915)

You are missing a couple:
911562-replaces nothing
904942v2-replaces 904942 original

new update for IE. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913830.

It appears to be totally replaced by 912812, but I thought Ryan might want it for registry entries.

You are the best, that would take me at least couple of hours to find out.
904942v2 is not listed in my critical updates, can it appear after installing mentioned above?

Anyway, thank You very much, I already updated my hotfixes pack.

Can you update the list of which files are still required, and a link to where the they need to be uploaded to.

i downloaded a zip file from a server a couple of days ago, supposedly containing every update posted for winxp, as it is very large i will look and see if the ones you want are in there and just upload them

Sorry about that. I didn't mean to clutter the thread, I was thinking of Hotfix Hunt in the wrong context.

Seeing that this is a Critical Update it's clearly Microsoft's problem and it probably didn't need to be brought up here. Time to get some sleep I guess. :)
