New Nirsoft utility that might help pack builders

Post by newsposter » Fri Jun 20, 2008 2:52 am

http://nirsoft.net/utils/reg_file_from_application.html

It's different from RegMon in that you can tell the NirSoft util to key in on changes made by a specific app (installer) instead of manually sorting through a (possibly) long log flie.

Now if we could just get it to save the changes as .inf as well as .reg.

Pretty sweet! I'll have to test it out.
(too bad it doesn't monitor file edits as well...)

Heh, have to agree there. I think Nir Sofer designs his icons based on the oldest version of Windows that the program runs on, i.e. if the program runs on Win9x, it gets a Win9x compatible icon... and nothing else :)

I've made Vista-esque icons (in 48x48, 32x32 and 16x16 in max colors) for some of the NirSoft utilities (basically the ones I use). The icons are based on the original ones, just updated. I then de-UPX, then reshack, then re-UPX the utils to change the icons :)

If I have the time, I might put up a zip file of the icons I've done if anyone's interested :)

There are too many of them to reshack them all, but if you've got 'em, I'd love to have them! Thanks!
