A few issues with my CD

Post by Dyslexic60 » Wed Aug 06, 2008 11:31 am

I have created an XP Home Unattended CD and its working great and I want to thank the people who created the tools and addons that I have used. I have a few small issues that I would like to get straightened out with it though. They are listed below. Thanks in advance for any help.

Pre-Configure ICW for "Always On" internet Connection
Pre-Configure IE7 Phishing Filter, Default Search Provider (IE Runonce settings, first IE run after install)

These entries from Hijackthis, granted they aren't really problems but are excess stuff that shouldn't be there per se:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-20\..\RunOnce: [nltide_3] rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSectionEx nLite.inf,C,,4,N (User 'NETWORK SERVICE')
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\RunOnce: [nltide_3] rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSectionEx nLite.inf,C,,4,N (User 'SYSTEM')
O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\RunOnce: [nltide_3] rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSectionEx nLite.inf,C,,4,N (User 'Default user')
O13 - Gopher Prefix:

I believe thats it for now. Thanks in advance.

XP should be configured for "Always On" networking with Windows Firewall enabled by default if you skip OOBE.

You can find IE7 tweaks here:I'm not familiar enough with HijackThis to know how those registry entries should be applied. :(

SP3UAN -> Driverpacks (CPU, Chipset, Lan, MassStorage)
SP3UANDP -> ENU_AddOns_SpeedUp_post_DPMS_.zip

Finally I use RVMI to add in several OEMSCAN addons and Ricktendo's CCleaner & Spyware blaster addons (two seperate integration steps)

The hijackthis stuff is found after a clean install, seems to be lingering post-install. The preconfiguration stuff is additional things I would like to happen automatically. Upon opening IE for the first time I have to go through the connection wizard and set to always on and then configure the settings (Phishing, Search).

those entries have to do with your tweaks and settings (using nlite .etc) deleting them cant help either...

The more confusing part is they are runonce settings but they never go away, presumably because those accounts never actually log in but w/e, its purely cosmetic.
