For KB948046, the only files that that differ between the hotfix and SP3 are the six files with March 2008 timestamps (pcl*res.dll and uni*.dll), so you can omit all the other files from that hotfix in the future to save a wee bit of space. ;)

(*) Well, not quite. There is one other file in the hotfix that differs from what already exists in driver.cab. It's one of the GPD files (can't remember which; it's been a while since I last looked at this hotfix), but when you diff it, you'll see that the only change between the old and new version is actually a bug being introduced in the new version!

Ryan, once again you are the best. Thank you for keeping on top of the updates.

Edit: I noticed you linked to the "post SP2 update" location. Not a problem to get to the "post SP3" files, but something to be aware of Ryan.

Ryan, the from my website link is going to the sp2 page... the URL can be manually adjusted but I am sure that is not what was intended.

@code65536 and ryan:
i can't find the different gpd file. i compared those files using Beyond Compare 2.5.3, it shows only six dll files differs.

Hmm, that's strange. Maybe this is a problem that exists only for the ENU version, and not for CHS?

Here's what I get when I diff the GPD files in SP3.cab with the ones from the hotfix's SP3QFE dir... (btw, I meant to say "SP3.cab", not "driver.cab" in my post earlier)

Code: Select all

--- SP3\pclxl.gpd Tue May 15 13:38:16 2007
+++ SP3QFE\pclxl.gpd    Fri Nov 30 11:32:08 2007
@@ -419,4 +419,4 @@
     sA5Paper: =ubyte "<02>" "A5"
     sA6Paper: =ubyte "<02>" "A6"
- sJB6Paper: =ubyte "<06>" "JIS B6"
+ sJB6Paper: =ubyte "<02>" "JIS B6"
 }
The change being introduced by the hotfix to this particular file is obviously wrong since the second field (<??>) is supposed to contain the size of the third field.

Some problems with Microsoft Terminal Services Client - it's missed after integration
And PLUGIN.OCX missed too.

You should at least be using 1.4.9 for best results.

ryan, I think these entries are missing a section where the listed need to eventually land into driver.cab unless...

Code: Select all

pcl4res.dll
p6font.gpd
p6disp.gpd
pcl5eres.dll
pclxl.gpd
pjl.gpd
portcls.sys
stdnames.gpd
pclxl.dll
pcl5ures.dll
stdschem.gdl
stddtype.gdl
wzcsvc.dll
unires.dll
unidrvui.dll
unidrv.hlp
unidrv.dll
ttfsub.gpd
ntkrnlpa.exe
stdschmx.gdl
locale.gpd
ntkrpamp.exe

yeah i saw 1.54 b4 out, it has a little issue: txtsetup_flags(see its changelog for detail). this section is not intended to be used like that(see my post in integrator 1.54 beta topic).
personally i use kal's 1.54 b3 mod which fixes the unicode issue.

EDit:i take it back the new beta works just fine

I was probably unaware exactly of the cause that allowed that to happen ...

i retested it all and its fine. +

it should work great for all (so i believe...) so go test it now

None of the betas have any code edited for the drivercab_move section. So I don't see why it would be different. I don't have time now to look into it but I will.

@yumeyao I replyed to you in the beta thread. ;)

Hi RyanVM, I have two questions about your latest Update Pack, if you don't mind :P
  • Where does this registry entrie come from (KB953323), it's not part of update_SP3QFE.inf :

    Code: Select all

    HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer","HonorAutoRunSetting",0x10001,1
  • KB951764 doesn't specifie to set the key below, and applies only to Windows Server 2008 :

    Code: Select all

    ;Required for KB951764
    hivesys.inf|"TDI",\|"TDI",\<NEXT> "FirewallGroup",\|1
TIA and cheers ;)

You know, I do have PM...

1.) It's from an earlier hotfix that got superseded. Feel free to go through the changelogs to figure out which one.
2.) That was a typo on my part. It's fixed now. That entry applies to KB951624.

I notice the following updates are missing, is there a plan to integrate them in the future, or should I add the manually?

KB955305 Silverlight
KB940157 Windows Search 4.0
KB954154 Security Update

Other than that, it worked great!

Silverlight and Windows Search aren't overwhelmingly popular, so they're left out intentionally. KB954154 is specific to WMP11, which is not included in the update pack.
