[Help] Setting Registry and File Security (wtf do they mean)

Post by ricktendo64 » Wed Oct 01, 2008 7:16 pm

I am having trouble with my IE7 addon, it add reg entries that are later set to read only and this causes trouble for ppl who want to upgrade to IE8.

Code: Select all

; Problem registry
HKCR,"Interface\{34A715A0-6587-11D0-924A-0020AFC7AC4D}",,0x00000000,"DWebBrowserEvents2"
HKCR,"Interface\{34A715A0-6587-11D0-924A-0020AFC7AC4D}\ProxyStubClsid",,0x00000000,"{00020420-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}"
HKCR,"Interface\{34A715A0-6587-11D0-924A-0020AFC7AC4D}\ProxyStubClsid32",,0x00000000,"{00020420-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}"
HKCR,"Interface\{34A715A0-6587-11D0-924A-0020AFC7AC4D}\TypeLib",,0x00000000,"{EAB22AC0-30C1-11CF-A7EB-0000C05BAE0B}"
HKCR,"Interface\{34A715A0-6587-11D0-924A-0020AFC7AC4D}\TypeLib","Version",0x00000000,"1.1"
; End
I can go to the registry string, right click on it and go to permissions and set the attributes but I would like to set the attributes to it with INF.
I can do it but I need some more info on the letters, I found the meaning to a few of the security descriptors but if anybody know of a more detailed list I would like to see it plz

Code: Select all

(A;;GA;;;SY) − Grants all access to the local system.
(A;;GA;;;BA) − Grants all access to built-in administrators.

You shouldn't have to do anything. View the advanced permissions on that key it should be inherited from "CLASSES_ROOT". SYSTEM, Administrators and Creator Owner should have full, Power Users have Special, and Users Read. Hopefully they are running the setup as an administrator.

The permissions for some reason are set to Leer (Read) and nothing else, I have to manually change this in order to modify this section of the registry
During Windows setup its fine, but ater you log in (btw I always use main administrator account) one cannot update or modify this string (unless i manually change the attributes)
