KB938464-v2 vs KB956807, What are you guys doing?

OK I was just curious, what are you guys doing about KB938464-v2 vs KB956807 in your updatepacks

KB956807 has a higher version gdiplus.dll than KB938464-v2, before I solved the MU problem by adding the "Installed" registry entry for KB938464-v1 so MU would not bother. But it does not seem to work for KB938464-v2

Your thoughts and ideas welcome other updatepack makers

Ricks Hello, Sorry for my English

just this line

Code: Select all

HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide\Installations\x86_Microsoft.Windows.GdiPlus_6595b64144ccf1df_1.0.2600.5581_x-ww_dfbc4fc4\References","U_KB938464-v2", ,

and already ok with
HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\HotFix\KB938464-v2","Installed",0x10001,1

but even if you rename the one in
HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\HotFix\KB938464-v2","Installed",0x10001,1
I believe that no notice was the first mistake in identifying a row with an update of the register and not looking version of the file system, now I believe them vain search for the version of the file and others are wrong but still not reading the first and after (x86_Microsoft.Windows.GdiPlus_6595b64144ccf1df_1.0.2600.5660_x-ww_e0385ec6) decide whether or not to install KB938464-v2

Ciao.

Thanks, OnePiece. :)

I can more or less confirm OnePiece's findings. For me in XP x64, I needed the "Installed" registry entry and the following two empty keys:

Code: Select all

HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide\Installations\amd64_Microsoft.Windows.GdiPlus_6595b64144ccf1df_1.0.3790.4278_x-ww_DF720873",,0x10
HKLM,"SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SideBySide\Installations\x86_Microsoft.Windows.GdiPlus_6595b64144ccf1df_1.0.3790.4278_x-ww_AD682293",,0x10
