A newbie question: [New to here, not new in general]:
KB951978 indicates as an update for Script 5.7. Attempts to run it indicate it requires XP SP3; if I am reading this correctly, it is listed as an update for the SP2-oriented package here.
Can someone tell me how to get KB951978 to install on an SP2 XP system? [just as a loose update; or alternatively if that cannot be done, how the package here accomplishes it?]
Thanks to all
cjl
ps: Can someone get me started here on using the install method described here? Only done the standard original CD-based install or my own copy of I386 dir unmodified then add on hotfixes after sys up, etc.

I'm sorry, but I am a stranger here. There is a reference to that KB article and Script 5.7 and XP SP2 all on the same page; I think there was an SP3-oriented different package as well, but the point here is now does SP2 get this update clearly for SP3?user_hidden wrote:it would be easier if you let us know which SP2 update pack you are reffering to.

OK, I found it here:user_hidden wrote:i will ask 1 more time, which SP2 update pack are you reffering to ?
PostSP3 update packs would include that KB.
if your source is an official SP2 source you should be slipstreaming the SP3 update from Microsoft and then add one of many PostSP3 update packs available here on the forums.
The page is titled
RyanVM's Windows XP Post-SP2 Update Pack
There is a section entitled:
Other Updates
Within there the eighth entry says:
Microsoft Windows Script 5.7 (includes KB951978 Hotfix)
I found it on the Internet at this address:
http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/updatepack-sp2.html
I don't see anything about XP SP3 on this page; there separately seems to be another page that would be for XP SP3, but not on this one.
I think this is something covered here?
