I've got a url query for the windows update catalog that might help pack builders here

http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/ ... +xp+update

ONLY usable with MSIE v7 and better, it will also install an ActiveX for the Update Catalog.

Handy way to grab the latest/greatest fixes......

Bring it.

Add to those a new compatibility view list for IE8 and MSRT. :)

Microsoft Update Catalog Web Control 7.4.7057.223 is included with my update pack. are you sure it will only work on IE7+ ?

that's what msft says anyway, IE 7 and better. I'm not inclined to load and run IE 6 to prove or disprove them.

XPSP3 msdn source + mypack worked with IE6 when i tested the pack
but since i am presently on the road i can"t test it. when i get back later i'll
fire up the last VM with 1.3.6 and let ya know.

MS Update Web Catalog ActivX work just fine with IE6 !
confirmed on an MSDN XPSP3 Pro + QFE_1.3.6, nothing else added.

could be part of the push that MS is making to get people off of anything older than IE7.

IE6 might be possible, but it might also be a bad idea........

11 security updates totally for XP, including one for .NET 2.0/3.5, one released on Aug, 1st.

Adding to the list is MRT and IE8 compatibility view list.

So you need 9 updates, MRT, and IE8 compat(optional) don't miss them.
