Need help with chinese filenames

Post by biatche » Sun Dec 14, 2008 3:19 pm

I already have both simplified and traditional language installed.

I've problems running some chinese filenames on DVD. they are chinese characters, shown correctly in explorer as they should be. But, when I run them, they show something like... unable to find E:\??????. Yes, all question marks. I don't get it. What am I missing here?

Please advice, thanks.

when you check them in explorer, their filenames are in unicode.
i think when you open them in some programs then they are in ANSI, therefore your current codepage will convert those unicode characters into "?".

to solve this program, search for the utility called "applocale". it will give you the liberty of running an application in specficed codepage. you can use the forum search function and will find an addon made by me.
otherwise, you can also by changing your default codepage.

finally note that all characters in traditional chinese are also in simplified chinese , so always use simplified.

btw, would you tell me what file types are they and what program do you use to handle?
