I use RVM Integrator 1.5beta 32, but is my mistake, i forgot to put DirectX 9 addon in integrate process :D, because when i read first page of UpdatePack, i thinked that i am read somewhere that is directx included too, but i am not read cearfully, sorry :)

btw about security warnig, like you say i am not worry.

PS. about this Switchless Installer, how to install them? for setup?

I realy don't know why RougeSpear runtimes didn't work?

Silent installers wich are not svcpack compatible can be executed at first boot with different methods: from RunOnceEx, GuiRunOnce, batch files, included in a specific addon or manually.

See for example http://unattended.msfn.org

Hey nonno

First off Great work.

But while testing and looking into it closer I found a problem or 2.

I am getting an unsigned driver error during setup. This is with only your update pack and your dx9 pack.

Also I noticed you have 3 of the same files in both packs, BUT the ones in your dx9 pack are older versions.

Is this on purpose or just an oversite?

Thanks Kels for your words.

Until now we've got any unsigned drivers errors.

Onepiece says that w2k updatepack and dx addon have 5 of the same files and 3 of them in DX addon must be newer[/] versions (so if you use Integrator DX addon must be integrated after UpdatePack). Are you sure about that? I can't verify by myself now...

Sorry for the delay but I was out for ski holiday :)

ah...W2k UpdatePack and DX9 addon updated

dplayx.dll
dpwsockx.dll
kb941568.cat
msdmo.dll
qasf.dll
quartz.dll

Here is the list of dupe files between your dx and update pack. Yes, I also just barely finished dl'ing them so they are the freshest files you have out.

Ok, but the ones from DX addon are newer version, compared to UpdatePack ones, or not?

Win2K Update Pack and DirectX pack

Post by Jondar » Thu Jan 24, 2008 11:19 pm

Hi,

First of all: please pass on my thanks to OnePiece for this pack - it's been very helpful for getting several of my older computers back up and operating at a peak efficiency.

I do have one question in regards to integrating the update pack and the DirectX addon, though. Can they be both integrated in the one go, or is it better to integrate the UpdatePack, then integrate the DirectX pack in a second run of the integrator?

Thanks in advance,

-- Jondar

@kels: no problem at all ;)

@jondar: it`s better to integrate UpdatePack and other addons in one go. Less time waste recompressing driver.cab. Simply keep UpdatePack first, because of older files

@nonno fabio, I really have to thank you and OnePiece for this update pack. It's great to see that someone still supports this lightweight and solid operating system. And wow! There is a ton of updates in this one. Excellent job!

i've tried this update pack + directX9.c addon using integrator 1.5RC2

Found bugs:

(1) "UNSIGNED DRIVER" message during install (this is already known bug)

(2) OUTLOOK EXPRESS SETTING bug

Under menu TOOLS\OPTIONS\READ, i see:
- Get 0 headers at a time

Under menu TOOLS\OPTIONS\MAINTENANCE, I see:
- Delete news messages 0 days after being downloaded
- Compact messagee when there is 0 percent wasted space

Here's the issue:
When I go to those menus, those numeric values are default to "0" (zero).
And when I close the menu, a message asks me to choose a number within a specified range to change that "0".
So, I change those 0's to certain numbers, then I click OK then I got out of the menu.

When I go to the menu again, those numbers are back to "0" again, and I have to change them again.
The settings don't stick.

If I don't use this update pack, I don't get this error and the default settings are like this:

Under menu TOOLS\OPTIONS\READ, i see:
- Get 300 headers at a time

Under menu TOOLS\OPTIONS\MAINTENANCE, I see:
- Delete news messages 5 days after being downloaded
- Compact messagee when there is 20 percent wasted space

Unfortunately, I cannot look at other points because I already restored the image of my working system so these are the only info I can give.

I don't know whether others also are have this issue but I just want to let you know.
Otherwise, this is a great pack.
:P

Uncertified driver messages appairs often in XP and Vista too (very often with audio drivers) but don't give problems.

Those newsgroup related bugs seem to be caused by some KB hotfix

thanks for report

dear nonno,

please send my humble "thank you" to onepiece for creating this pack. The same goes to you too.
I only have 1 pc at work and only 2 hours (when my boss is out) to do fresh installs, testing, application installs, etc., and when it doesn't work i have to restore back the working image.
So this pack will help me a lot to shorten these tasks. :P

I'll gladly test every release of this pack during that 2-hours "free" time of mine.

Dear Nonno Fabio,

first of all, compliments for this brilliant piece of work !!! very useful !!!

Now, my question:

Is it possible to apply your Onepiece pack to other Win2k versions like Server and Advanced Server?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Dear Nonno,

I have applied your Update Pack and the DirectX Addon to a Win2k Pro Sp4 cd using RVM Integrator 1.51.

After creating the iso image with RVM Integrator, I have tested it by creating a virtual machine with VmWare.
Everything went smooth and installation completed with no errors.

Is there a way to check that all new fixes included in your Update Pack have been really applied to the new Win 2k installation?

The only thing I have been able to verify so far is that the version of the DirectX files are correct.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers

Have you tried running QFECHECK.EXE in a CMD window?

If QFECHECK isn't included in the Update Pack then you can download it from Microsoft.

Hi Seraph,

many thanks for your help !!!
I have downloaded the tool and run it on the Win2k virtual machine.

The tool says that there are a lot of hotfixes installed, however it also gives the following error message:

KB896423: This hotfix should be reinstalled.

The following files are not valid in the system catalog:
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\SPOOLSS.DLL
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\FAXUI.DLL

Is it a known issue or am I the first one to discover it?

If needed, I can post the entire log generated by qfecheck.exe.

Thanks again for the help !!!
Cheers,

@rdomp8:

we've never tried with Server and Advanced Server 'cause we have no setup CD (and enough time...): if you want to test on a VM and report, will be nice;

New qfecheck will be in next update pack: about the error message, probably it's a wrong or corrupted .cat. We'll investigate. thx for reporting it

Thank you for awesome project.

One question, is it normal for this to take 15min to be integrated by Ryan Integrator?

I'm not sure if my problem is with the update pack but I just want to take it one step at a time and pin point the prob

Thanks

Hi Nonno Fabio,

I have applied your update pack to both Win2k Pro Sp4 and Win2k Adv Server Sp4, then created bootable cds with RyanIntegrator, finally installed both on virtual machines.

Installation was smooth and with no errors for both.
Also running utility QFECHECK produced no warning/errors.

Congratulations for the excellent job done !!!

Cheers,

p.s.: bootable cds contained also DirectX9 & Windows Script addons plus other addons Win2k specific found browsing through forums

Driverpacks (All but Graphics C)

During gui mode setup i get errors about several missing files,, "bach" something, "hallof" something, a few utopias.. all seem to be sound file related. But I dont think i removed any of them. However, you can hit cancel on all of them (about 8 or so) and install proceeds fine. And it seems to work fine.

However I tried to install avg afterwards and it complains about roxio (Which isnt installed in an form other than perhaps media player?) and then complains about registry access denied problems, I fixed with regedt32 on one machine but this is a problem in other areas as well. I am unable now to install a chipset driver on a dell laptop due to access denied errors (I'm guessing in the registry)

I think I'll go try step by step on a VM and see where I end up. But any advice is appreciated and most all thanks for your work on these packs, once I get the kinks out I'm sure itll save me a lot of work as i still load 2k far too frequently.

EDIT: Just tried again and still got missing files (Sound related files) with only RVM -> Update Pack, WScript Pack, and DirectX Pack onto SP3 source with SP4 integrated. I'll try again tomorrow reintegrating sp4 onto fresh sp3 maybe thats where the problem is...

Ok, started over with a cd that already had SP4 and it fixed the missing file errors. However the program still are getting registry "Access Denied" errors. I am creating a new user with nlite named Owner as part of the administrators group... but the Administrator account suffers the same issues.

Have you tried using only one program (nlite or integrator) for the whole integration process?

nanno/onepiece,
First of all this is a great way to save an outstanding OS and would like to thank you for all of your work. I am having a problem though. Using Nlite and a slipstreamed W2k-SP4 package. I have tried several times to get your update pack and your repair pack to install with the same error and I cannot get any further.

OnePiece.Win2kSP4.UpdatePack.2.8.2.ENU.7z 58.7 MB
OnePiece_Repair_Win2000_SP4_Update_Pack_2.8.2_ENU.7z 193.8 Kb

The error is re: admparse.mui

Link to see error
http://geocities.com/spx4449/

Update: If used with Ryan's integrator it works 100% with the only update left is the KB890830

Thanks

admparse.mui is a file present in IE7 addon only.

I've really no idea why it is listed in .sif file of your win2k setup CD.

Have you tried to integrate IE7 in Win2k?

Thanks for the reply. Well I sure don't recall trying to install IE7 with a W2K system when I started out this a.m. I was trying to just load w2k on an old box to see how well it would work. Anyway PROBLEM solved!!!!! :D :D I finally said to H*** with it and recopied my original W2K OEM to hard drive and it worked GREAT no problems at all!! GOOD JOB you and onepiece are doing.

Thanks Again and keep up the GOOD WORK :D :D

Sorry, silly mistake in Windows Script Addon.

Please redownload it and retry.

Thanks for reporting

First off, thanks for the quick fix of the script addon.

I've started from scratch again with the new winscript pack and still getting the same errors. I used the last session presets from nlite so refer to previous post for that.

Win2k SP4 Source -> Nlite -> Driverpacks is all that was done.

I get a few error messages and still can't install some devices, software, etc do to registry access errors.

I also get this error during gui setup complaining about virtual memory. Granted this is on a virtual machine and this particular error may not appear on a real machine..

Virtual Memory Error

Driverpacks Finisher Error (First login)

AVG Install Error

Additionally i get an error that access is denied trying to install a keyboard (It did it automatically, not real sure why) but it failed and I forgot to take a SS of that.

EDIT: Keyboard thing seems to come up every time system boots so i grabbed an image.. And I figured out how to use paint! lol

I'm not sure whats going on... Thanks for any help.

Virtual memory error is not an... error but it's standard behavior when you use VMs.

I think the other error messages are not related to UpdatePack but rather to Driverpacks.

However I will ask Onepiece. If you want to test a new integration without DPs, in the meantime...

I always got an error with DriverPacks Finisher (even before OnePiece came along although I was using someone else's unofficial service Pack 5 - USP5) when used with Windows 2000. I just manually copied/extracted (from the installation media) the DriverPacks Finisher files to where they needed to be and then ran it, and that always seemed to work.

Only thing is that I don't install Windows 2000 with DP often enough to remember off the top of my head what needs to go where, so I have to re-learn that every time. Look in the .ini file for DriverPacks on the newly installed Windows 2000 partition for ideas.

Also, I perform an Acronis True Image backup before I run the Finisher because there were times I put things in the wrong places, and the Finisher automatically deletes some DriverPacks source files at the end of it's run whether you had everything else in the right place or not.

I never got the other errors but I haven't used this OnePiece addon for over a month so it was a different version.

ok, I confirm what I wrote above, except for AVG error that I think it can be fixed with the next update pack release
