Windows 2000 End-of-Support Solution Center on July 13, 2010!

Post by jsp » Sun May 23, 2010 9:23 am

The microsoft is discontinuing its support from july 2010 as stated here

http://support.microsoft.com/ph/3071/en-us#tab0

Support for Windows 2000 ends on July 13, 2010!

The Windows 2000 End-of-Support Solution Center is a starting point for planning your migration strategy from Windows 2000 to Windows 7, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2.

I want to ask ? that Onepiece Win2k postSP4 UpdatePack v4.7.0-100513 is the last Onpieces or do I await for next pack as I am planning to make a updated Windows 2000 CD for Future reference.

Thanking to Mr. nonno fabio for his great works.

I would like to know this too.

Since we have, maybe 2 more patch days before this is over will there be a "Final" pack being released after that?

It would be nice to compile a "final" 2K installation disk so I'm on board with the curiosity

Yeah you can add me to that list. I will put off my download for a bit until I
am sure that it can be final.

It would be useful to go through this not only for Win2k, but as a dress rehearsal for the eventual (2012??) Complete and Total Death of XP SP3 (XP SP2 dies the same time as Win2k).

Another release will be out after this patch tuesday, with MRT in Control Panel as Kels asked for, but I think it will be the last one, if nothing extraordinary will come out
Don't ask for a different configuration of Onepiece's XP AIO Update Pack: use one of the existing vanilla XP UpdatePack with your preferred addons instead

Support for Windows XP (http://support.microsoft.com/ph/1173)

Important notice for users of Windows XP with Service Pack 3 (SP3): The support for this product ends April 8, 2014. To ensure that you will receive all important security updates for Windows you need to upgrade to a later version such as Windows 7.

And you felt the need to warn us over two years in advance, even though MS had announced this already several years ago, because ... ??? I'm sure Windows 7 has an announced end-of-life as well.

Cheers and Regards
