This is a list of popular applications proved to work in Windows 2000. Some of them still support the OS officially, some are not supported but work, others may require unofficial kernel and/or other modifications in order to run. Some of the programs may require UURollup (ENU). If there is no version listed it means that all versions are compatible.
Adobe Flash Player
Malware Defender 126.96.36.199
Mozilla Firefox 13.01
Mozilla Thunderbird 13.01
SRWare Iron 20.0.1150.0
VLC media player
Details and download links available here.

I should have written that I hadn't tested them these programs (yet) on a system without any unofficial kernel installed. I'm going to do it though, and I'll also try to do it for all other applications in the future too so that unofficial kernels won't be necessary to run them

I added Speccy
. It requries WB unofficial kernel. I also found out that ProcessExplorer shows an error about missing API in ntoskrnl.exe if WB kernel is not installed. It still works though. On the other hand, Speccy won't run at all without the unofficial kernel installed.

I have added Firefox 13.0a1 (latest Nightly).

I've added Firefox 14.0a1 (latest Nightly).
I've also found a bug in builds starting from 13.0a1. It's exactly the same as this one
. To overcome it it's necessary to disable hardware acceleration in Advanced General options. It's already disabled in the package uploaded here

I'm thinking about expanding the list to cover not only modified applications but also those that still support Windows 2000 or "just" work (even though officially doesn't support). Of course in such cases I will just link to their homepage for downloading.
I can't prepare such a comprehensive list by myself so please tell me about programs you use and I'll put them on the list

I added Launchy 2.1.2
to the list. Newer versions don't work properly in W2K but this is one is still very good. It's actually one of my favourite applications

I've added Dexpot to the list which is also one of my favourite applications ^^ and still officially supports W2K.

I've added SmartTab which is a very nice Alt-Tab replacement. Extremely resource-light and simple at the same time. The only drawback is that it doesn't support Unicode.

I've added the newest version of foobar2000.

Updated Evernote to the newest version.

I've added Google Earth
to the list. The newest version just works but I guess it probably requires UURollup (ENU). I don't really feel like checking it now though

Sumatra PDF has been added. It requires UURollup (ENU).
