Everyone should remember that the SP1 final will not install/upgrade over the beta version - the user will have to uninstall the beta or install Win7 clean and then update using the final SP1.

please check before you post.......

msft pulled all of the d/l links for the Win7/Server2008 SP1 beta last Friday.

Uncorroborated chatter on TechNet speculates that SP1 may be released on one of the next three Tuesdays in sync with the usual msft Tuesday release practices.

always better to download OS components DIRECTLY from the makers source instead of intermediate 'repositories'.

True, but for informational purposes only, if we can get it earlier from elsewhere, it gives the addon makers that much more time to play with things to prepare for the official release. We all know the risks involved and the possibility of last minute changes.

But you are absolutely correct, and new users should be reminded that for real installations, especially in any kind of production environment, it can't be stressed enough that one should ALWAYS "download OS components DIRECTLY from the makers source". Thanks for the reminder.

Cheers and Regards

I agree w/ the above comment about "download OS components DIRECTLY from the makers source" w/ a small caveat. As long as you know the original checksum of the file published by the maker, it does not matter where you can dl it as long as it's a reputable dl site & you can verify/compare the checksum before installing it to your system.

Maybe, maybe not. Wait for Microsoft to release it on their website and you will know the answer :)

The 1.9 Gb download is an ISO that contains the SP1 installers for 32 bit, 64 bit, and ia64/Itanium.
