gone very quiet...any runtimimes news...

Post by ianm2 » Sun Feb 13, 2011 6:25 pm

hi I am wondering if there is an update on any forthcoming windows 7 runtimes, many useful things could be incorporated into 7 for eg. the updates list.

Why have such things not really happened, 7 has been out long enough.

are ppl using xp still and still modding that?

I am really keen to get my hands on them, but I know they take work.

so any news on runtimes or add on packs?

thanks!!

I have had to use like 4 runtime files since my switch to 7...

It really isn't worth the time untill someone makes me a doable list of them...

Personally I install all vcruntimes from 2k5 to 2k10 x86/x64 and the other MS runtimes (mostly ocx files) I copy and register in my \syswow64 dir

Those are the only runtimes I install

has everyone made the transition to windows 7 or are the "main" ppl still using xp?

don't you think xp needed a lot of work to integrate all the "extras" like addoons and runtimes and .nets? there seemed an awful lot to have to add to it?

Yes, updating XP can seem like a lot of work - but have you tried Win7?

I have read and looked at some of the programs available to 'slipstream' and/or 'integrate' updates/addons/drivers/etc into Win7 and have determined the processes to be far more difficult to figure out than what has been used in XP. Try reading the instructions on DISM and/or the WAIK for example.

Maybe, with time, Win7 will be easier to update but I expect to spend a lot of time just screwing things up before, if ever, it gets easier.
