[Solved] Rebuilt .NET4.5 need to patch Setup.exe

Post by ricktendo64 » Fri Nov 16, 2012 3:07 pm

Hey guys, hopefully somebody here can help me.
See I am trying to create a rebuilt, updated .NET Framework 4.5 installer ***same as the original***. I have managed to integrate the updates and rebuild everything but the only problem is the setup checking for digital signatures (of the *.msi and .mzz file) that causes it to fail

If anybody knows how to remove the signature check from the setup files I would greatly appreciate your help (I think its either Setup.exe or SetupEngine.dll need to be modded)

BTW I don't know if this clue helps, but I notice that I can use the modded installer to "Uninstall" the Framework if it is already installed, the setup verification of the modded msi and mzz files passes :o

so here is the result:
file to patch setupengine.dll

@OFFSET 7918C 6 bytes

original bytes:
0F 84 35 01 00 00

patched bytes:
90 90 90 90 90 90

please check it by yourself, I haven't installed it yet, just trying to bypass the validation only...
I have updated the default .net4.5 installer, rebuilt the cab (mzz) file, patched setupengine.dll and rebuilt the installer successfully...Its working PERFECTLY!!!

Here is my finished rebuilt installer

BTW if you are wondering how to get the SFX you can use 7zsplit.exe (vs hex editor) to split it from the original Microsoft installer (no config.txt needed)

One that works better for me, with SRWare Iron, is this one - http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/141047.

That one only does adfly, the one I posted also does linkbucks and many others (also autostarts mediafire links)

I saw that it was supposed to, but I couldn't get it to install correctly for me with SRWare Iron. Or rather, it installed but did not function. The other one, adf.ly Redir, went in as smooth as silk and worked perfectly.

But when I installed Tampermonkey, a Greasemonkey compatible script manager for Chrome, then installed the link you suggested, Ads Skipper, as a Tampermonkey script rather than a direct SRWare Iron extension, then Ads Skipper installed and worked correectly.

So bottom line, at least as far as SRWare Iron is concerned, and I assume Chrome, if you don't mind needing to have Tampermonkey installed and active, then Ads Skipper works fine and does handle more protocals. I don't know about autostarting MediaFire links. I still had to solve the captcha. But if adf.ly is all you care about, then adf.ly Redir will install and work correctly without needing Tampermonkey. It also lists the following as its advantages:
"The script offers several advantages over comparable scripts. What makes it special is that it won’t break the browsing history so that you can use the back or forward buttons as if the adf.ly page never existed. The redirection script is furthermore fully compatible with popular extensions such as NoScript, Adblock Plus or Ghostery."
I guess it's just another user option.

Cheers and Regards
