Post by Kelsenellenelvian » Tue Sep 27, 2005 11:26 pm

Ok I made fully silent packages for the Java and .net silent installers.
Since I had them made I thought I would share them with you guys.

I'm wondering if I could ask you and maybe Ryan a question.

I downloaded both yours and ryan's java installers and extracted them to see. I noticed you both have an msistub.exe in there.

Currently I'm trying to make switchless installers with keytotime's turtorial on msfn. So I have StartX.exe and a config.txt in mine. My config.txt looks like this right now.

Code: Select all

;!@Install@!UTF-8!
RunProgram="StartX.exe /WAIT \"msiexec /i jre505.msi /qb-! REBOOT=Suppress IEXPLORER=1 JAVAUPDATE=0\""
;!@InstallEnd@!
I'm wondering if maybe you could help me make the switchless installers your way. Normally I wouldn't ask but I'm trying to make installers for the JDK and JRE and JDK for x64..

Read this thread it will explain msistub and the switches used in it.

After that all I did was follow the instructions in the sticky thread here.

If anyone wants to try this out I have now finished my own switchless for jre505. I removed some things to keep it small and clean.

I removed the updater, the updating schedule, the extra lucida fonts, eulas, and licenses. And all of the other languages.

The .NET looks a bit complicated for me. :?

Microsoft stuff is always the most difficult to mess around with anyways. 8)

I think I'm just going to make a switchless installer for all my programs and then just use WPI.

I'm pretty new to installer switches so it's probably going to be difficult to get all those put together the way I want. The thread at MSFN with all the switches isn't very organized at all. :(

If you'd use proper 7z packing options, you'd finish up with 7.83 Mb installer size...

Ok, but I don't know how I barely know anything at this point. I had to follow keytotime's tutorial and look at ryan's installer just to get done what I did.
