Could you provide a link to the homepage of where to get this program at? I am not sure I have heard of it, however some of the people that can help you in that regard would need the program to analyze how it operates.

Verry few i8nformations.

If you refer to Systweak"Advanced System Optimizer", that's one inno setup installer package.
Silent install work using this command line:
asov2.exe /VERYSILENT /SP-
but affter install program will start, because have one run section at end of install

One must good ideea is to unpack the installer using UniExtract 1.60
and to make your installer from files allready extracted by UniExtract.
You have all files, and inno script too, you need only de modify the script and to recompress installer using inno setup.
1. add to [SETUP] section:
DefaultGroupName=Advanced System Optimizer
2. remove from [RUN] section : Filename: "{app}\aso.exe"; Description: "Launch Advanc.... line
3.Replace all "MinVersion: 4.1.1998,4.0.1381 Service Pack 6;" with nothing.
4. add somewhere one [Registry] section from where you can add name and licence to registry at install time.

yor final recompressed script will have /VERYSILENT /SP- silent switches but will not start application.

Or ... you can use files extracted by UniExtract into {app} folder and make 7z silent installer.

See this example:
[Registry]
Root: HKLM; SubKey: SOFTWARE\Nullsoft; Flags: uninsdeletekey
Root: HKLM; SubKey: SOFTWARE\Nullsoft\Winamp; ValueType: string; ValueName: regname; ValueData:
Root: HKLM; SubKey: SOFTWARE\Nullsoft\Winamp; ValueType: string; ValueName: regkey; ValueData:

Root: HKCR; SubKey: CLSID\{{46986115-84D6-459c-8F95-52DD653E532E}\LocalServer32; ValueType: string; ValueName: ; ValueData: {app}\winamp.exe
Root: HKCR; SubKey: Winamp.File; ValueType: string; ValueName: ; .............
You just need to add [Registry] section and to add reg keys and values.

Using regedit you need to find YourName-YourSerial reg keys, export is as one reg file and:
a) add keys and values to registry section,
or
b) you can add [Run] section

[Run]
Filename: "{sys}\regedit.exe"; Parameters: " /s your_reg_file.reg"; WorkingDir: "{app}"; Flags: waituntilterminated

so when all files are copied, is executed (silent ) the content of your_reg_file.reg
Yor script need to be something like this:
[Setup]
AppName=Advanced System Optimizer
AppVerName=2.20
; folder whre to install
DefaultDirName={pf}\Advanced System Optimizer
;name of the start menu group
DefaultGroupName=Advanced System Optimizer
; name of the outputed installer
OutputBaseFilename=setup
;compresion type
Compression=lzma

; the rest of setup variable are just cosmetic, you whant to use it silent...

Adjust the name of the reg file, and see into [Icons] section what you want to keep and what not.
If you use [registry] section put one semicolon ; before Filename: "{sys}\regedit.exe".............." into [run] section.

Don't forget, you need to execute setup.exe /VERYSILENT /SP- for silent install

Another solution is to add the "reg add" strings to your config.txt example:

Code: Select all

;!@Install@!UTF-8!
GUIMode="2"
RunProgram="Silverlight.exe /q"
RunProgram="reg add \"HKCU\\Software\\Microsoft\\Silverlight\" /v Activated /t REG_DWORD /d 00000001 /f"
RunProgram="reg add \"HKCU\\Software\\Microsoft\\Silverlight\" /v PopUpAllowed /t REG_DWORD /d 00000000 /f"
RunProgram="reg add \"HKCU\\Software\\Microsoft\\Silverlight\" /v UpdateMode /t REG_DWORD /d 00000002 /f"
;!@InstallEnd@!
Just change the prog and switch and edit the reg add with HKLM\\SOFTWARE\\etc....serial

If you post the .reg file with the serial edited (to protect it) I can write you a config.txt that will add your serial and stuff

Track changes into app folder, maybe it add some file(s), os some lines to existent files.
You can use reghot app to see reg keys an files that are changed when you give YourName-YouSerial to "Advanced System Optimizer"..
Extract regshot.7z onto desktop, run regshot.exe, start your app to add registration info step. Before give it the info make 1'st shot, give the info, apply, quit app, then make 2nd shot, then compare. If program registration is allready done by one previous install, you may not find nothing.
Not all reg keys from compare file are about registration, but you can filter nonrelevant keys. At top of compare file you will see and changed files, but not what is changed, so is necesary to keep copies of files from app folder to compare.

Look for it in:

Code: Select all

HKLM\SOFTWARE\NameOfCompannyOrSoftware

HKCU\Software\NameOfCompannyOrSoftware
Edit: No thats not where it stores the serial info, i downloaded the program and checked. Its like registry mechanic, it uses a very complex way of storing the name and serial in the registry...it cannot be added unattendedly

Download inno setup, install, then double click on install_script.iss, pres Build > Compile, and that's it.
After finish look into "Output" folder and locate setup.exe. That's your inno installer.

For unpacking you can use only innounp.exe
innounp.exe -x asov2.exe
In fact Uniextract use innounp to extract inno setup packages.

Edit: Here you can download inno setup installer, then download corrected install_script.iss

One location he may need to look (actually two), is under the profiles directory.

"x:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Application"
or
"x:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Application"

Those are a couple of locations that programs typically store files during installs and they may not not remove them on an uninstall.

x -> is system drive
Documents and Settings -> is your profile directory (may be different)
Username -> is your current system username
Application-> is whichever directory is used to store data
A mind is like a parachute, it only functions when it is open.
