Open source apps

Post by maans » Fri Nov 04, 2005 3:39 am

Hi

stil new to the site, trying to find my way round, been using NLite since they started, very cool but, always wanted to slipstream the appz that one needs to install every time.(Opensource appz)

Was very pleased to see the work you guys have done (Ryan), very cool.

Found all the very good open source appz like firefox, thunderbird,7zip but cant seem to find anything worthwhile on open office (a real shame), esp open office 2 official release.

The Java runtime works very well but the Dot net 2 pack not so cool.
added it in nlite but no go. not installed

Also the Adobe 705 pack seems to try and install once wondows is installed, then... it cant find its files???

Anyone with links to Switchless Installer Open Office 2, Acrobat Reader and a working dot net2, please help.

Anyone tried winamp?? and if some one can post the link to all your switchless installers please.

.net works if you mannually set it up to run from RunOnceEx (visit http://unattended.msfn.org for more info)

Ther is a switchless installer for adobe reader somewhere , but I would recommend you to use Foxit

for Winamp go to msfn.org and find Allanol's .msi installer for Winamp.

For open office 2, first extract it, then create yourself an administrative install by running setup.exe /a

The .NET 2.0 is definitely not working from svcpack right now. Somebody needs to figure out how to do that.

Foxit looks great, but, can i slipstream it.?

"Allanol's .msi installer for Winamp" i dont thnk im doing it right but cant find it. But thought about this and its al great, but second prize.

the obvious idea is to create your own switchless installer.

had a go at it using this guide (viewtopic.php?t=67&sid=4e03c486c3d467ea58826fe16265abba)
but no luck, and i lit followed it word by word.

the onley dif is the 7z.sfx, i have ver 4.29 on my pc, but cant find
7zS.sfx

rather just 7z.sfx or 7zC.sfx and 7zCon.sfx, dont know if that is the isue.

when i dklick my "newly created exe" it simply starts an extract.??

what gives.??

thanx for the link on open office 2, still going through it, but get the feeling its not for people that use nlite.

am i right, by asuming this

Maans, go here:
http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=39048

At the bottom download 7zs.zip. Extract it and there is your 7zs.sfx. :D

Searching for Winamp MSI in the msfn forums will bring back a few results...(I see that you already have the link though)

I would take it easy though...Al should be coming out with v5.111 soon

For Open Office 2.0...see here:

That's because .NET 2.0 won't install from svcpack.

look here:
http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=59452

That .NET 2.0 should work for you hopefully, it uses runonce instead.

Foxit cannot be slipped...
Apps are installed silently which is not slipstreaming.
just make the thing into a silent installer and throw it in the mix!
...use innosetup if you like to repackage.
*see unnatended guide for install during win setup tips.

@dgelwin,
ok. ok. your correct, but why bother, as you said...alot of, something.
_was mainly trying to point out that slipstreaming is often confused with simply adding apps to an unattended windows install.
