Internet Explorer 8 installer with all updates slipstreamed?

Post by zzzz » Wed Mar 16, 2011 10:43 pm

Hello everyone :)

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask.

Is possible to build a Internet Explorer 8 installer with all updates slipstreamed?

that would be *very* nice.

Thanks!

Well actually it WOULD be possible to cobble together the installer and the updates in a very messy install daisy chain....

(((PUKES)))

But then with the excellent true addons made for it why would you want to?

It is possible to create it, Nonno Fabio IE7-8 SvcPack\RunOnceEx AddOn (and an addon of 2007, who remembers, when created and released IE7) http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=97019#97019

few have noticed them, Siginet those used, but as Kelsenellenelvian said the true addon and perfect (also true addon you can run the RollBack)

However, even those in svcpakc\runonceex mod and perfect, and only 11 MB and includes everything already

Ciao

this would be perfect to deploy on live systems.

thanks for the link to the update pack/addon creator, I'll try it.

if anyone else has experiences with this, please share with us

sorry, but I don't quite understand ;)

I've tried to build a updated IE8 with no success, DXUPAC.exe doesn't give a compressed AddOn (or installer, which is what I want)...

Probably you've missed something. Simply follow this image:

Inside the resulting SvcPack you will find the updated .exe silent installer you need.
Don't ask for a different configuration of Onepiece's XP AIO Update Pack: use one of the existing vanilla XP UpdatePack with your preferred addons instead

...so I must have on the same source folder:

IE8 installer from MS;
all updates (does exist a list of links to them?)

someone else already made an updated installer of IE8 and made it available here? sometimes a reinstall is really needed, and nothing better than doing it already updated.

Edit: I've successfully made a svcpack IE8.exe; checked inside to see if it includes all updated files from the latest cumulative update that I've found, WindowsServer2003-KB2482017-x86-ENU.exe, and it not.

it updated only the following files:

browseui.dll
ieencode.dll
shdocvw.dll
w03a3409.dll

can I use DXUPAC to create a Remote Desktop 7 addon for Windows 2003? tried, also no success.

thank you, as always :)

seems that I was using the wrong cumulative update, the right one was IE8-WindowsServer2003-KB2482017-x86-ENU.exe.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/d ... laylang=en

now I've succesfully made a IE8 updated installer, and addon :)

I'll try for Windows XP, brazilian portuguese.

Thanks for such a great app!

tried to run IE8 setup on a live system, resulted on IE8 removal, reverting to IE7 :-O

when running iesetup.exe from extracted IE8.exe contents, results are OK.
