Download problems ... am I missing something?

Post by CyberDrac » Sat Apr 16, 2005 11:21 am

Hi, sorry that my first post ever is a problem, but this seemed like a logical place to start.

OK, basically I cannot download any of the packs.

I go to ...

I select the link RyanVM's Windows XP Post-SP2 Update Pack

I scroll down and select Update Pack Full

... and nothing happens, it suggests that it is downloading in the status bar at the bottom, but three seconds later it stops, and quite frankly my internet connection isn't THAT fast.

I have tried 'save target as' and 'open in a new window' but they don't want to work either.

I know it is something VERY stupid that I'm doing wrong but I just can't spot it!

Cheers for any help

Well, a more logical place to start would have been my Frequently Asked Questions.
I can't download any files from your site.
There are two possibilities for this problem. First, my site logs download statistics through a third party named WhatCounter. They've been known to have server issues, so if that's the case, all I can say is to be patient and keep trying. Otherwise, MSFN uses anti-leeching technology on their servers, so it's possible that you're having issues sending the proper referrer value. Some download managers and firewalls are known to interfere with the sending of referrers, so check those. Beyond that, I have no control over how MSFN checks referrers, so there's nothing I can do.
