Vista - what does not work

Post by Shark007 » Wed Oct 11, 2006 10:31 am

One program i use often, Resource Hacker, does not function in Vista.
Just thought I'd put a headsup out there for others.

It appears to work in RC2 x86. I'm guessing you're trying to use it in x64? I've yet to install that version.

Nope, x86 here also.

and .... I stand corrected, after downloading a fresh copy and extracting the files, all seems to work fine now. Not sure where my sourcefiles i was using in XP came from. I tried using my old installation on a diff hdd and got several exception errors.

I was already exploring alternate options, glad i can stick with this program afterall. Thanks 5eraph

Freeware that functions great, a person cant ask for more than that.

Continuing the theme inferred by the thread title:

Vista Home Editions will not be allowed to run in a virtual machine.

That's straight from Slashdot.

The more appropriate question in my opinion is, what does work in Vista? Seriously Vista RC2 has way too many problems compared to even XP RC1 when it came out in 2001

my experience with vista is very limited. until recently, i tried earlier versions - giving up on them within 24hrs.

Currently i've been using RC2 continuously since its debut, its been quite the learning curve, and i gotta say, it has my attention. I'll probably stay with the RC's untill it goes final. I have found VERY FEW incompatibilities with the software i use on a day to day basis. I like my experiences so far.

The thread title stands .. i'd like to hear what doesn't work ...

I like RC2 for day to day tasks. I won't install it on my daily machine (at least, not by itself) until it can properly support OpenGL.

I do still like to play games. I don't want to cut my choices in half.

Vista FAILS at being an OS, an OS should be as light as possible and keep out of the way, a PC is for running Applications, not bloody fancy windows, not a DRM infested RIAA/MPAA CEO's Wet Dream.

Then you go on to state next day in a request thread for Vista Fonts...
