How do I specify logon-screen wallpaper?

Post by pepoluan » Thu Jun 21, 2007 3:21 pm

Is it possible to specify a logon-screen wallpaper so that I don't have to keep using TweakUI to change it?

For instance, I want this wallpaper to be used as the logon-screen wallpaper on WinXP.

What should I do?

Similar situation for Win2003; I want to use the supplied Windows 2003 wallpaper (the 3D-ish black windows logo tiles)
Nobody is perfect.
I am nobody.

Dump the registry. Make the change with TweakUI. Dump the registry. Do a comparison using WinDiff.

IIRC, it's located somewhere in HKU\.DEFAULT\Control Panel

(sorry for this flame, but felt the need to say a few things)

i wish people finally realize how bad windoze really is. how backwards and how it cripples the mind of the users. vista is the worst windoze ever (and the worst OS ever for that matter) you can't do absolutely anything with it, you pay $400 (or more) for it and you can play music because of the DRM, you can't copy it to another of your own machines because you have to pay for an extra license. you want a good word processor and no.., pay more and get word, which it won't let you open documents saved with its own previous version. you can code your own applications because it comes with no compiler of any language, you canget visual studio but, again pay a gazillion dollars. now for the really funky stuff: security. vista just made it to the market and it already has 248 known security bugs, 128 which are critical and were found in the 1st 36 hours of being out there, which leads me to the next point, you want security? well pay MORE money and get: firewall, antivirus, anti-spyware, user-file-protection (since any user can do anything to anyone's files under windoze), anti-anti-virus since the antivirus program is spying on you...
need i say more?

good luck to all of you... don't come crying when windoze ate your 230 pages thesis for your PhD.
sorry i found this humorous. someones comment to the linked windows xp sp2 wallpaper at deviant art.

gotta love o/s fanatics

@grief

Yeah, fanboys are funny, but still, it's SO true.

Not that I don't like Windows. I just know it could be better (which is what we do here at RyanVM) :P And Vista is definitely a big step in the WRONG direction.

microsoft isn't open source because they are a corporation, and their goal is to make money. it could be better, but profit wouldn't be ;) linux users will find problems with microsoft, microsoft users will find problems with linux, etc. you know what they say about opinions. just like a$$holes, everyone has one and it stinks lol.

to rant about it on a artist community forum is laughable. most people that use computers aren't exactly admin's, they use windows because its easy/user friendly (for the most part ;) ) and/or their work uses it. having a little self control is harder than it seems :D

Well I agree to some extent with what is happening with Vista but not to the degree that comment says, anyway please start your own thread as your discussion is making this get a little offtopic.
