Eh? It's the exact file I got from bittorrent.

I thought there weren't going to make it public?

I really don't know what you got from bittorrent, but if it's the same build (3244), then it's the same file. :D
And yes, "they" made it public because they are in a rush to realease the final version in the first quarter of 2008.
As thing are going now 5eraph, I suposse it will be ready in February or March, so sleep well :D

I read that this latest build has some fixes fore multi core cpu's, and a few bugs corrected. Nothing more.

With this patch, Explorer.exe gets the version 6.0.2900.3156. SP3 RC1 today has the version 3264. I think it is safe to assume that KB938828 is included in SP3 RC1.

as speculation, I wonder if MSFT could be 'strategicly' (deliberatly) attempting to release a buggy XP SP3 to 'encourage' people to move to Vista SP1?

The only thing that would make Vista attractive to many of us is for MSFT to cripple XP.

Their corporate customers with service contracts would sue them to oblivion if they tried to pull a stunt like that. Ain't gonna happen.

I didn't get it...to install SP3 you must have at least SP1 installed, but it slipstreams into "original" XP without any SP just fine?

[EDIT]
Another thing I didn't get: after installing SP3, WU offers only .NET 1.1 and .NET 2.0 without SP1, and no 3.0/3.5 ?

[EDIT2]
Just realised, after installing SP3, no IE7 listed in WU..how come?

I think you're right. I wouldn't be surprised to see a new version of the IE7 installer that's specifically for SP3 or for both SP2 and SP3 in the near future.
