So, I'm going to be on a nationally-syndicated radio show...

Post by RyanVM » Tue Jan 15, 2008 9:20 pm

Awhile back, I was invited by Carey Holzman to appear on his nationally-syndicated radio show Computer America. At the time, I said no because I had a lot of other stuff going on and didn't feel it was the right time.

However, now that things have settled down a bit and a new release is imminent, I've decided to accept his invitation. Therefore, I'm going to be appearing on his show from 8-9PM PST (11PM-12AM EST) this Friday, January 18. For those of you who want to listen in, you can see if any local radio stations carry the show here (I found one in Philly that does). Otherwise, you can stream it live from their website.

Heck, if you're really feeling motivated, you can even call in and ask me a question directly :).

Anyway, I've never done anything like this (especially for an entire hour!), so this ought to be an interesting experience. I hope you guys enjoy!

the_guy: No clue, but you can always stream it online.
newsposter: They make MP3s available of all of the previous week's shows, plus I'm planning on hosting it on my site as well :).

Meanwhile, I'm drinking some coffee now to stay awake. I'm not used to having to stay up until midnight and be lucid at the same time :P

lol cool! Maybe I'll call in if I'm feeling ok. Been pretty sick this week. I've got a soar throat. But I'll be sure to tune in. Sounds really cool! Can't wait to hear it. Just an hour to go.

Anyone know the phone number? I'll keep looking on their site. ;)

That was really cool. My laptop screen crapped out on me just before the last segment began. I don't know if it had anything to do with the WMP plugin for FF or what, but I thought my screen backlight blew out. Luckily I was still able to listen to the end of it (and rebooting brought my screen back).

that was a cool interview ryan ;)
thanks!

@presuhn well actually when ever a service pack gets released thats the actual same thing that gets done slipstreaming it ,same same like when using the update pack with integrator ...

except a service pack gets released if it needs to deal with the upgrade aspect
of upgrading stuff like: new services, critical fixes, compatibility with newer bits layers of vista and so on.. of course it needs to include all the security fixes up to date.

enu_user: i suppose you're right, but when there's a gap of years between official MS service packs, it's kinda hard to wait.

Also remember not all of us want to spend hours waiting for MS update to take place after the couple year gap between service packs.

I work on computers for a lot of family members . I have all of their activation stuff backed up on my computer and have an unattended script ready for each of them. I just load up the latest RVM & make a new disc, works like a charm and only takes the time to integrate and install vs hours waiting for MS Update to work & having to reboot your computer 10 times to make sure you have ALL of the updates.

Congrats on the radio show Ryan, I didn't know about it until now. I will listen to it later tonite though.

ryan, you will have much better quality recoding it live as I did happen to hear some part of it when it was going on live. and believe, the sound was much better then that lousy mp3....

for the inquisitive ones:
I fetched the mp3 the next day only to catch-up with what i had missed but the sound was so poor i had to shut the player down...

Well, I'll be on at 8PM Pacific Time. Apparently we'll be talking about what's happened since the last time I was on and the moves to upgrade the site, like moving to a VPS. Beyond that, I really don't know what we'll end up talking about. Winging it is always fun, though :P. Who knows, maybe he'll even take callers

BTW, they also run a live chatroom during the show that I'll be in, so feel free to drop in and say hi :-)

I think the problem is that if you put in a newer disc, the newer files on the CD won't match the security catalog hashes that were installed to your system.
