universal sata driver
universal sata driver
update:
new version out 0.39j http://alter.org.ua/en/soft/win/uni_ata/#uniata_beta
# Added support for several new SATA/PATA controllers, e.g. Marvell, AMD, ATI, nVidia, VIA.
# Fixed bug with BSOD on any SATA controller.
# Fixed some bugs in VIA SATA code.
# Continued AHCI support development
# Fixed compatibility issue with DDK 2003
----
so i was looking for some alternative to those driverpacks. while searching online i came across this http://alter.org.ua/en/soft/win/uni_ata/
i got rid of floppy drives long ago, so i was trying to figure out what to do about sata devices. anyone think this might have any merit or worth trying?
edit: i'm not trying to find an end all solution, just some way of letting me get past the windows (f6) installation. once there, i'd see about getting the proper drivers

there are some pretty serious 'restrictions' on how that driver functions...

lol thanks Siginet. i'm not really too offended by their remarks, if anything i'm laughing at the pompous, superior attitudes. and you are exactly correct, i posted this because i thought SOME people might LIKE to find out about different methods of doing things.
btw i personally think its very impressive that someone has been able to accomplish what that guy has. even if its far from perfect, as far as i know, nobody else has ever been able to do such a thing

Err, sorry if I came across as insulting, I re-read what I posted and it came across pretty bad. Sorry!!!
What I was attempting to say, was that it seamed to me like a waste of time to investigate alternative when such a great solution already exists.
Again, sorry

Hey, I live for making computers or software do things they weren't meant to do originally! For practical purposes, that is, not for eye candy. And that driver is definitely for a practical purpose even if it ends up being an uphill battle.
Some people didn't know you can get broadband internet working on a Windows 3.1 machine.
LOL. It's true, it works with some additional stuff you can download from MS.
Whether using Opera 3.60 or IE 5.0 under Win 3.1, the web looked like absolute crap though, but it was fun just to try it.
I haven't bothered fooling with combining most Windows ME system files into Windows 98 SE to make SE have the benefits without the worries of ME in years though. LOL!
